Okay, anyone remember my RSVP story a couple of weeks ago?
Well today FI gets a text from another cousin apologizing for not sending in her RSVP and then asking if it was okay if her husband invited his 3 aunts and their families!!! Really? why would you even think thats okay!! Ugh.

kris- we had several write-ins.  Then when I spoke to the people, they sounded so oblivious... "That's not ok?  I had no idea!"  or "I guess I should have asked first..."  You think??

I find school the last week totally pointless.  The only reason I don't mind coming is because I've gotten done so many things:  programs, kids' packets, ceremony details, and music list.  I'm also catching up on my email correspondence with vendors, picking out bridals to print, and doing a little online shopping for my honeymoon.  Actually quite productive- lol.

I hate the smell of microwave lunches.  Seriously.  The lean cuisines, and the fiesta dinners, and anything else that gets cooked in the microwave.  HATE THEM.  My whole office reaks now from people cooking their lunch in the breakroom.  GROSS GROSS GROSS!

    Whew, I feel better.  :)

Today is mine and Brad's 3 year dating "anniversary." Do you still call it an anniversary when you're married?

I just took up a kid's iTouch.  He was looking at it while he was taking his semester exam.  I'm giving him a zero and I've emailed his mom.  I know I could have been a little more lenient but this kid yelled at me twice last year when I wouldn't let him make up quizzes after the semester was over.

I'm with you, Mariah:  I've woken up on the wrong side of the bed for the past two mornings.

My husband has to have surgery tomorrow..this sucks! So I don't know if I will be able to make it to the G2G. He told me to still go but I don't know.

tnickel, I hope the surgery goes well!

juliebug, I don't blame you for taking his iTouch! That's the wrong time for him to be messing with it! And him yelling at you...H no!!!!

Has anyone ever argued a ticket?

Two days before my wedding, my Blackberry died.  I was between appointments and had about a million things on my mind and I was about to have a breakdown.  I drove to the Verizon store for them to fix it, and while I waited I ran some errands.   When I went back to get it, I apparently made an "illegal U-turn" on a green arrow at a signal light.   There is a sign about the size of a postage stamp but I didn't see it at all at the time.

I deserve the ticket, no question about it....but it is $208!!  That's absurd.  I had a pretty bad speeding ticket once and it wasn't even that high.  It seems like I've heard that you can get the fines reduced for exenuating circumstances... anyone know?

My husband is feeling sick so I don't get to do yoga tonight.  I am so, so bummed.  I look forward to this yoga class every single week.

On top of that, I don't think I can make the G2G tomorrow because I've been going and doing so much for about a week now and spending too much money.

I've heard of people getting reduced fines when they have no income. I think running errands 2 days before your wedding should count as extenuating circumstances, but I don't think a judge would buy it. You might be able to do community service. Sorry, I know that wasn't any help. Good luck!

Will they let you do defensive driving to reduce or get rid of the ticket?
  • edited December 2011
Tiffany-- I haven't ever argued a ticket, but I had to schedule a court date to get one cleared because I had received one for an expired tag and got it renewed within the given time. Anyways, there were a bunch of people there for all sorts of tickets and the guy handling everything was reducing a lot of the fines for people. They had things like running a stop sign/red light/speeding. You should set a court date and just see if there's anything they can do for you. No harm in trying.

Thanks Buttercup!   I was thinking the same thing about the judge. :)

I can pay the fine or take defensive driving or whatever I have to do.. I was just curious.  My DH sends his all (yes, I said all) to an attorney to handle so maybe I'll go that route.

I can do defensive driving. I have to pay a $127 court fee, plus the cost of the class.  I was just sitting here thinking hell, I may as well pay the ticket.

EDIT:  Cheryl, hmm interesting!!  I may look into that.

I wish people would look over documents prior to a meeting.  It would make my day just a little easier.

I went today to order my MOH dress for my friend's wedding this September. Hope there aren't any problems getting it in time.

haha yeah I think if it were up to paying a reduced fee plus the cost of defensive driving, I'd pick to pay the ticket, too!  :)  Sorry you're having to deal with this!  I hope the ticket gets reduced at least!

Thanks Mariah and everyone for your advice!  Stupid Traffic Ticket...
  • edited December 2011
Traffic tickets are stupid - and why is legal to do a u-turn in some places, but illegal in other places?  There's no consistency.  It's so hot and I'm so tired of studying.  Bah humbug to the entire summer!!

Ever since I started reading  FML, I always read FMIL as FML.
Somewhat fitting for some people's circumstances :P

I woke up on the wrong side of the bed yesterday so I hear you ladies!

I can't stand FMIL...seriously lady get a life. She acts as though we both don't exist, she and FFIL finally gave us a firm amount for the wedding that they will be giving us...it is 1/3 what they orginally committed too...Awesome thanks for all your help. (p.s. no flames I know it isn't gauranteed but she shouldn't have opened up her big mouth) Also they threw us no shower, my side of the family did and his family who lived closer rsvp'ed and didn't show up...super polite first encounter. Thanks. Basically I have no use for them...FI says oh they will treat us better when we have kids...sorry Charlie but if you don't respect me you don't get to be super grandma.

    Thanks that felt fabulous!!

I'm seriously thinking about adopting a dog. This would make my dog total 3. We have a house, so we have the room for one more. I just don't want to make a bad decision. I also really want to save a dog --my other 2 are from breeders. I love my 2 dogs to death, but now that I'm more educated, I won't ever buy from a breeder again.
One of the main reasons I want a 3rd dog is because my Boston is really playful and constantly wanting activity, while my Beagle is lazy and just wants to sleep and sniff around. I'd like to get a dog that my Boston can run around and play with all day.
I've been looking online at shelters and it's just very difficult. I wish I could save them all. How do you choose one out of so many? They all just break my heart.

Anyways, I'm just babbling. I could go on...about laws that need to be put in place. Also about how it makes me think about child adoption and how I feel selfish for possibly not adopting a child.....

Cheryl - I would quit looking at the shelter dogs online until you're sure you're ready to go get one. It just makes me so sad. A friend of mine rescues dogs from puppy mills. Sometimes she will have 5 or so dogs she is trying to find homes for. I don't think she has any right now, but I could let you know the next time she does.

I got my pooch from an animal shelter right before she was about to be put down.  I tore myself up looking at pets online knowing that I'd be getting a house in a few months and just couldn't resist this little girl.  It sounds silly, but I seem to have a sense about animals and can pick ones that are good fits for me.  It was the best thing I've done - she's a great dog, and although the shelter said she was 13, the vet estimated her at closer to 8 and that was 2 years ago.

My SAW - I am meeting FI's ex wife tonight at his son's pre-K graduation and I'm freaking the F out!

Cheryl- thats how we were, we have a Great Dane with arthritis and my young beagle would always jump on the Great Dane trying to get him to play. I was afraid my beagle would hurt the FIs older great dane so we got a border collie puppy. She sure does her job! She wears out my beagle!! If you do adopt I would look at the North Dallas Dog Rescue, thats who we got our puppy from. Also I like how they say you're kind of saving 2 dogs when you adopt from a rescue- your doggie and the next doggie that the rescue can save in its place!

That sucks!  I don't see why you owe them any money seeing as that horse was a gift to you.  That's wrong.

cherrrylll - we got our dog from the american brittany rescue (http://www.americanbrittanyrescue.org/). They were really great with helping us get adjusted to having a dog, and she's definitely high energy :) I would definitely recommend going with a rescue group.. they pull the dogs from the shelters, and work on training them and getting them adjusted, so you know what you're getting into a little bit more.
