Metallic Sig on Professional Print

We just got back a few of the engagement prints we ordered from our photographer.  I'm not sure if this is normal or not, but he autographed the front of each photo with a metallic marker.  We paid for these prints, and they are going to be displayed within our home and I really don't like the look of his autograph on the front side of our photo...especially when one of them is right at the focal point of the photo where we are standing.  I'm not sure if I should approach this with him because this might be completely normal for all I know.  The people I've spoken to about it seem to think it's strange and that they've only ever seen someone's "mark" on a print like this on the back side.  Advice is very appreciated!

You should talk to the photographer about this.  It's only normal on proofs so you can't reproduce them unless you purchase.  Since you purchased then you shouldn't have his mark.

ETA: The only place I can remember having their logo on the photos is Olan Mills and it's really small and in the bottom corner.

This must have been an oversight on the photographers part. Like PP said, "watermarks" or signatures are only supposed to be on proofs. It is completely unacceptable for his signature to be scrawled across a photo you are displaying in your house. Technically when you buy a print from a photographer, they are giving you the rights to it...there should normally be a "do not copy" sticker or something on the back so you cannot take it to a lab to get duplicates made.
