Have: Reluctant fiance. Need: Good engagement photo ideas.

Hey ladies (and gents?)

A friend who is getting into photography is doing our engagement pics for free. She has good equipment and takes great photos, but she's never done an official shoot before. That's potential problem #1.

Potential problem #2: My fiance doesn't like having his photo taken and it can show itself in really awkward smiles or difficulty motivating him to take any photos. He would die if I tried to make him peak around a tree.

We want to have a fun day and lots of great shots, but between the rookie photographer and the reluctant fiance, I am grasping for inspiration! I love shots like at oncewed.com with the kind of indie feel to them, and ones that are unique and a little goofy, not taking themselves too seriously.

Any great pose/concept ideas, or tips for the day of the shoot?

THANKS!!

Bring props!  Like if you like playing a favorite board game or playing the guitar or anything random like blowing bubbles.   Your photographer should try to get you guys to laugh with stupid jokes or take pictures when it's least expected - like after you just posed and are just smiling and talking anyways.  Having you on his shoulders doing a piggy back is always cute and gets people laughing right away.  Or he could be kissing you on the forehead or lips.  Or fun ones like going down a park slide, swinging.  The skys the limit!

Try a event like the State Fair or shoot hoops/play catch.  Most important, be yourself!

What are some of your FI's hobbies, or favorite things to do?  Does he have a classic car that he could bring, or that someone he knows owns?  If you can give us a little more info on your FI, we can give you some creative ideas!  :)

We are bringing our 2 dogs along for some of the shots, because I think that will lighten the mood a little and make things more comfortable. Plus I think these type of "family" shots are adorable. Do you have any pets you'd like to include (at least for a couple of the pics)?

    Good luck!
