To do video or not?

So I don't know if video will fit into our budget but if you didn't get video do you regret it?

Re: To do video or not?

  • Yes.  I didn't get video and it is my one regret.  My advice would be to at least have your ceremony videotaped.
  • If you do a search on Wedding Recap and Withdrawal, you'll get a lot of similar posts asking if brides regreted it. It seems as if 99% of those who had a videographer DID NOT regret it. But at least 50% of those who did not have one, DID regret it. At the very end, we were able to scrape up enough money to get a videographer and it was one of the best decisions. I love to watch our highlight video & can't wait for the full length. More importantly, it meant the world to our parents.

We got just the ceremony videotaped. Would that be an option to save money? It cut the price of our videographer in half. The ceremony was what we cared about having on video.

Do you have a friend or relative who is relatively good with a video camera and would be willing to tape the ceremony or set up a tripod off to the side to tape it?

FWIW, we didn't regret doing it. We've watched it a few times and will probably pull it out on anniversaries or what not. Our parents love having the DVD as well. But if it's not in the budget, it's not. If video is important to you, I'd maybe look into setting up your own video camera if that's a possibility.

  • Oh yes please do.  I watch my daughters videos even today and it's been over 4 years.  The wedding day goes by so quickly.  Just invest in someone really good, the money will be worth it I promise.  Everything else will dissappear, but you'lll have a movie you can show your children and grand children one day.
  • Thank for the input everyone! Seems like we might have to invest in one.

@summer2011bride- I do like the idea of just having the ceremony taped... thats the most important part I feel
