Printing places for digital images on disk from pro-photog

I'm looking to just get the disk from my photographer of edited images (rights and all) and print the photos myself through a quality printing company to save a bit, prints seem to be where they killlllll you.. Is this a bad idea?  I've had zero luck, places who only provide their printing services for pro-photographers and not your average joe. Does anyone have any recommendations for printing places? (other than the obvious super stores, costco, walmart, etc)

In my area, the best printing places are local shops that have been here for years and years.  I recommend asking this question on your local wedding board.  Or you can bring your question right to the photographers in your area; you can find a DFW photographer group on Flickr, for example.

We actually get our printing done through the professional avenue of MPix. But, I have tested the standard MPix to make sure that I am giving my customers great prints and, as long as you never get glossy, MPix and Shutterfly are great!

Thanks for suggesting mpix.com! I was just looking for this topic since my pro picture CD should be ready anyday now. I bought a leather bound albums and wanted to make a traditional album ( you know with REAL pictures, not the digital paper albums photographers offer now that looks like I could make them on snapfish.com LOL)
