I had mine the day before the wedding because everyone was in town. I think it should be pretty close to the actual day, especially if you have BMs coming from far away. You don't really want to ask them to make a separate trip.

Ours will be a week before the wedding. It's usually one of the last pre-wedding parties that is done

Actually, you don't have to have one at all.  In our circle, they just aren't held.  I don't know anyone IRL who had a BM luncheon.  Showers and b-parties, yes, but e-parties and BM luncheons, no.

I had a bridesmaid G2G back in October (our wedding is next week) and we did a wine tasting and I handed out newsletters with all the information they would need. They loved the newsletters, in fact one of my BM's is now making one up for her upcoming bridesmaid G2G.

We're not doing a luncheon before the wedding because of conflicting schedules, but I am treating them all to mani/pedis the day before the wedding so we'll get together then and get pampered together. And the I'll give them their gifts for being a part of the wedding that evening at the rehearsal dinner.

If you're looking for a time schedule in which to have your BM luncheon I would suggest sometime during the week before your wedding. But like pp's mentioned, you don't have to have one, but if you are this is the best time to have it. Especially if you have OOT bridesmaids who won't be around until then. HTH!

I didn't do this exactly, and since I've never been a BM I don't know if they're done in my area, but I did have a GTG for all of my BMs about 5 months before. I wanted to throw a party thanking them for being in my life, and for sharing my day with me. Everyone was local, and it was fun to get everyone together so everyone could meet (only a few didnt know each other). Plus, seeing that my wedding was January 2nd, I knew there wouldn't be much time right before to do something closer.

My MOH and BMs threw me a shower about 3 months before the wedding.  I hosted a BM luncheon the day of the wedding because we were all together getting ready.

I've been in many weddings without a bridesmaid luncheon- so I'm not really sure when its supposed to be done.  However another idea- I have seen some sort of lunch provided on the actual wedding day as you are all getting ready together.
