Bridesmaid Dress-Searching Party

Hi there! I am getting married in August and I have a pretty large bridal party (18 people!). I don't want my bridesmaids to have to spend $100+ on a David's Bridal type dress that they truly will never wear again so I put in in their hands gave them a color scheme to work with and said, "Go find something that you feel hot in!" Even though I'm really laid back about this whole thing and truly could CARE LESS what their dresses look like as long as they feel good about themselves in them, a few people are still nervous about making sure I like what they get. SO, I started thinking...what if I got all my girl friends together and we went on a dress shopping spree? We could have mimosas and just spend good quality time together while looking for a dress that looks great on them! Has anyone ever done this? Or have any ideas about how to make it especially fun or fruitful?

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Cheers!

Sure, lots of brides do that.  I think it might be hard for you though with that many people. I just don't see how it could be productive.

I would just let the ones who are hesitant know that you'll go shopping with them if they want, or if they want to show you pictures or send you links, you'd be happy to look and tell them what you think.

I think these search parties are super fun and am so excited to a version of it as well. Because my family is from out of state as well as the maid of honor and matron of honor, as my fiance's family lives a few hours away form us where we are having the wedding, I am going to hopefully have my future MIL and mom as well as my sister, the maid of honor, and my fiance's sister who is a bridesmaid help me try on wedding dresses, look at mother of ther bride/groom dresses, and try on the bridesmaid dresses I have been reaseraching. These two bridesmaids will be excellent to have b/c my sister is super conservative and will want to be very careful with her neckline and my fiance's sister is the larger of the maids and I want to find something that she feels comfortable in and looks fabulous on her.

The other 3 maids will be invited but because of jobs, medical school, and out of state issues, i think it's going to be hard to get them together! But hopefully they can come!
