Under the dress!

Sorry to ask this but I really need to some help. My dress has a corset kind of boning to it and I was looking at some under stuff for wedding dress. It seems like all of them have boning. Is it bad to have both things with the corset look or should I go with a more sleak bra thing or do you not wear anything but a bra?

Not sure if I'm much help but the place I bought my dress suggested that I take out the boning in the front because it was laying really strange. As of now, my plan is to have nothing but undies and my mermaid crinoline on. And sewed cups. Not sure if I will need the boning or not... I'm hoping Becky will help me.

Had I not had cups sewn in, I would have gone with a long line bra but that would have just been one more thing constricting me.

I will have boning and a corset in the back, no boning in the front.  I am just having cups (2 of them as I need the extra help) sewn in.

All I wore under my dress was my Spanx. I really wanted something on my legs because they tend to sweat a lot. I didn't wear a bra - Becky sewed in cups for me.

Becky sewed cups in for me as well, so I'm not wearing a bra at all.

I have a long bra that I actually don't like very much (I don't feel very supported in it).  Becky made my dress to where I won't have to wear a bra, but for my own piece of mind, I'm going to buy a nice strapless to give me some "oomph".

I too had Becky sew in cups, so I am no help. I also wore pettipants beneath my dress because like Anna, I knew I wanted to avoid creating a swamp in my dress.

I had difficulty finding something to wear under my dress, as I am a bit busty, and my dress is fairly low cut in the back (with a halter).
Ended up finding a long bra (I think that's what it's called) that is concealable from Macy's.  Both it and my dress have boning.  I'm a little concerned that it doesn't extend down far enough and will show...
Maybe Becky will work some magic and I'll not need it!  We shall see...

Someone was WTBing it on the classifieds, and someone else said they had one and it worked great and was worth the money. It has my size left on the VS website.. but I am just wondering if it will make enough of a difference. I have lost fifteen pounds and plan to lose about ten more... and it would be nice to be completely "free" underneath, but I have a pooch that I am insecure about!

I am having cups sewn in as well, and just wearing some spanx type undies, as my dress is pretty stiff. A long bra would just make it extra bulky.

I wore spanx and that was it.  I am busty enough that I didn't need any more padding, and the dress was supportive enough.

Haha, judging by some of my pictures, I didn't need the extra padding either! I'm such a pear shape, I thought I would, but Becky lowered the neckline for me (it came up too high before), and with the cups it was definitely crazy boobage from certain angles!

Deepthi, I don't recommend a bra if you have boning--I actually bought one and brought it home and tried it on with the dress and it was too much.  I just wore undies and had cups sewn in.
  • edited December 2011
I bought Spanx, but I might not use it because my dress's corset back is pretty shaping/constricive as it is. I asked Becky about cups vs bra, she said bra is more supportive but sewn in cups are more comfortable. Again I went with cups because I'm pretty sure once I'm all tied in these bad boys should stay put.

I wanted something pretty under my dress, but not too much because my dress has a corset top.  I have a strapless white, lace bra from VS Pink line and white lacie thong from VS.  Not sure that helps you much, but you will probably be fine without a bra since you have boning.
