ABC shower

I have never been to a themed shower, nor did my shower have a theme... I guess its a relatively new concept. Anyways, I am co-hosting a shower and we are having an ABC theme since the bride, MOH, and myself are all teachers.   Anyways, I need help coming up with wording for the invitations.  I would like to have something that explains what an ABC shower is.  Also, I would like to open the gifts in ABC order, so we would need to provide something to place on the outside of the gift so we can order them correctly.  Any ideas on something that we can easily do?

    I don't like any shower that dictates what the guest can bring.  That includes ABC (where I'm guessing that on the invitation I'll be told to bring something that starts with a specific letter of the alphabet?) or an "Around the Clock" shower or any other.

    If you must work your ABC's into the shower, work it into decor/menu and let the guests choose their own gifts.

    <p>I think she means that they will find out what each guest is bringing so they can put them in order, not telling them what to bring.

    As for the outside of the gift, why don't you make school themed cut outs (apples, pencils, school houses, etc.) in the shower colors and put numbered stickers on each. I'm sure you could find some cute school themed numbers at Michaels.</p>
