Pre Destination Wedding Party Etiquette

We are planning a destination wedding and are not sure what is appropriate and what isnt. We/my mom would like to have an engagement party, a stag & doe & a wedding shower. We are just not sure that it is appropriate to have so many parites...thoughts???

if someone is willing to throw these parties for you, it is fine to have them...

..as long as the guest lists are only people who are also invited to the wedding.

Ditto pp's these parties are appropriate as long as everyone invited to them is also invited to your wedding. The guests can make the decision for themselves whether or not they'll travel to your wedding. One of my friends is actually attending a bridal shower this weekend for a friend who's having a destination wedding, but she can't afford to travel to it, but still wanted to make sure and celebrate with the bride-to-be at her shower.
