Texas-Dallas and Ft. Worth

Venues?

Since I'm not from Dallas what are some good venue recommendations? There's no budget per say as our parents are paying for it all evenly but we would love to get married outside with an indoor option in case it rains and an  indoor reception.

Do you have an idea about how many guests you'll be expecting?
  • edited December 2011
    I'm thinking probably 200?

What type of venue?  Trendy, artistic, traditional?  What location? Dallas, Ft W, mid-cities?

Dallas, traditional but with still somewhat trendy? Is that even possible?
  • edited December 2011
I'm not sure how many guests they can hold but you might want to look at Marie Gabrielle, the Filter Building, Off The Grid/Lofty Spaces

I can think of a lot more indoor places that are traditional yet trendy.

I hope this helps a bit though

Oooh a wedding with no budget.  Love it.  I'm trying to think of where I would get married if money is no object.  Probably where I got married though since it had meaning to us.  Anyway, I digress:

    Piazza in the Village
    Arlington Hall
    The Arboretum
Marc Events (this is a new place)
    Crow Collection of Asian Art
    Dallas Museum of Art
    The Stoneleigh Hotel

Where are you from? Do you currently live in Dallas? Are you planning on having an evening, or afternoon wedding?

May want to become familiar with the June heat in Texas if you're considering an outdoor wedding.

I went to a wedding in July outdoors last year at 6pm, and everyone was miserable we were so hot.

I will check these out. Has anyone had their wedding at the Ritz or the Crescent? Those are two my future mother in law recommended? But I'm thinking they are too uptight and traditional?

I am from New York and we both live in the city now. My fiances family is from Dallas.

The Crescent has a ridiculous minimum--like over the top, many thousands.

I actually thought the Ritz was a little too stuffy believe it or not.  But it's beautiful.  And I don't think they have an outdoor space, but I could be wrong.  I've stayed there and I don't know where it would be though.

I've seen some weddings done at the Crescent.  Beautiful venue and the food is excellent (We have events and also get catering from them when we do events in our office).

Oh and also check out The Belo Mansion.  That's a gorgeous venue too.

I'm not saying an outdoor wedding can't be done, people do summer outdoor weddings in Texas all the time. But the heat is something you may want to consider. There are a TON of beautiful venues around here that with no budget, you could get married indoors and it will still be gorgeous.

Piazza in the Village is AMAZING.  Absolutely stunning...
  • edited December 2011
I'm getting married at the Piazza.  That's why I picked a Sunday to get married because it is so expensive and Sundays are a little cheaper.  It pretty much took my whole wedding budget, but when I saw it...I fell in love.  It had everything that I wanted.

If your FMIL likes the Crescent and Ritz, try the Stoneleigh.  When my boss was looking, his mom wanted the Ritz but they ended up picking the Stoneleigh and she loved it also.

I forgot to mention the Dallas Aquarium.  I wanted to get married there but I had a very limited budget.

I dont know if you're only looking in Dallas but there is a GORGEOUS venue up in Denton still under construction but will be finished next month. It's called Ashton Gardens! I am absolutely in love with this venue and if only it was cheaper I would definitely be getting married there. The chapel has glass walls surrounded by a forest of trees so it kind of brings the outside in. The reception room has a grand staircase you and your groom would make your grand entrance from. It is absolutely a dream venue (in my opinon). However, it is EXTREMELY pricey. We're talking 18k just for a Saturday ceremony, reception and food. Does not include alcohol or dj, photography or anything. But if your budget can cover it, definitely check it out! The wedding coordinators do everything too to make it your special day!

I wished we could have afforded Arlington Hall.  If we'd had no budget we might have considered Arboretum or Nasher too.

Love the Nasher, but you have to be a member of the museum to hold events there.

don't know what area you want to stay in, but in mansfield a really awesome place called aristide just opened up. it is beautiful!!! way out of our price range for a wedding of only 55 people. they have an outdoor and indoor ceremony space.

Arlington Hall looks beautiful! Nasher looks beautiful as well but I don't think my fiances parents are members but I will ask for sure. I am going to see if the Arboretum will fly as well, did any of you get married there and have pictures that I could see?

Knottie (Elle) got married at the Arboretum last October.  It was GORGEOUS!  I'll go see if I can find it.
ETA:  Here is Elle's wedding at the Arboretum.

I had no luck with them, however--they took forever to get back with me.  They also book very quickly.  Also are you getting married in June?  You really need to reconsider an outdoor ceremony.  It's already 100 degrees here and in the 80's still at midnight.

I second Arlington Hall. It's on Turtle Creek, which will give you great views. It has multiple indoor areas, and 2-3 outdoor areas as well. Their food is great, too. It's definitely an impressive venue.

It is very hot at this time of the year.  How about The Old Red Museum at the Old Red Courthouse?  This would be indoor.

This.  Except that I am getting married on a Thursday because it is even cheaper. I fell in love with the place as soon as I walked in.  Just be prepared for it to cost even more than you think it will.
