I hate extremely poorly this weekend and now I have to pay for it.

Whew, this couldn't get here fast enough.

I got my pro photos this weekend... and I'm furious right now.  I had two photographers (a team).  My main photographer's camera messed up the coloring, so now my wedding looks like it was brick red, instead of burgundy... but only on her camera - which means I either use the pictures from her camera, where everyone is actually looking but the color is ugly, or the other camera, where nobody is looking at the camera but the colors are perfect.

I just emailed her, and her response was, I don't know why it did that, and I tried to fix it, and just don't know what else to do.  I'm soo soo sorry.

I have no idea what to do.  Any suggestions would be helpful.  (Side note, other than the color, and her response, I'm happy with the photos.)

Angie - I'm certaily no expert on photos, but it seems like she could photoshop the color in every picture?  It would probably take forever, but it seems like she owes it to you.

I know that accidents happen, but I would be totally furious.
  • edited December 2011
Yes I aree with PP, photoshop can work wonders so why couldn't it fix the red in your photos? If she really won't do that for you it might be worth finding someone that can. Sorry that happened to you!

I am so dragging today. I just couldn't get myself out of bed and I feel just exhausted. And I get to go teach music to high school kids for four hours this afternoon, because I'm the music director for my friend's production of Peter Pan. Actually, I'm really enjoying working with the kids, it's driving from Carrollton to Denton to Celina and back to Carrollton every day that's so tiring.

And as for the photoshop - yes, it should be able to be fixed, theoretically. It would be a LOT of work and you'd need a really proficient person. And believe it or not, not all photographers are photoshop experts. If your photographer can't/won't fix them, I have a friend who is a photoshop wiz. You'd have to pay her, but it's something to consider.

I have gone to North Park the past three weekends trying to get shopping done for my family.  I think I am finally done with my brother and maybe Bill.  We still have no idea what to get my dad.  All I managed to do was buy myself some soap from Neiman's (it smells really nice but I'm not sure what I was thinking).

My uncle (from CA--this makes it kind of self-explanatory) and his wife moved in to help take care of my dad.  They made it 48 hours before my dad told them to leave.  Upon being told to leave, my uncle informed my dad that my mom was no good for him and that she just made him harder.  I've never been a violent person but it was a good thing that they were no longer in the state of Texas when my dad told me that yesterday.

    Here's her response:
Yes...everything is too red on that camera. I tried EVERYTHING the day of the wedding as well as editing to fix the red. Its completely bizarre and unexplainable. I can't find any reason with the lighting, camera settings, etc that it would make everything so red. I've never had that happen before. Sometimes the color is slightly off due to lights, etc but this is so weird. I'm soo soo terribly sorry. I wish I knew a way to make it right.

If she knew it was a problem, why didn't she trade cameras, so the main shots would be correct?!  I've emailed another photographer to see what she thinks, because I'm capable of printing a photo, and that's about it.  So if she tells me that they can be edited to correct it, I am going to tell my photographer that, and see what she says... and if she won't do it, then I'm going to look into paying another photographer to edit them (if they even do that sort of thing), and make my photog pay for it...... And if it can't be fixed, then I'm going to ask for a partial refund.  Because I feel like I spent a lot of money and should get more than an "I'm sorry" response!  Do you guys think any of those options are asking too much?

  • edited December 2011
    I posted mine seperately.
A&J I hope it works out! I know for most of us having something wrong with our pics is the biggest fear. Hopefully there is a good alternative. Maybe you can see if your photographer can refund some money so you can go to Anna's friend to get the photoshop work done.

Julie - Exactly what about them being from CA makes it self explanatory?

Angie - I don't think any of those options are unreasonable.   Frankly, I'd probably ask for half my money back and find someone else to do the work.  I can't believe she knew it was messed up on the wedding day and didn't do something about it.

I thought the same thing! Surely as a wedding photog she would have backup equipment, and would do everything possible to PREVENT an issue like this.

I do hope that she will explore the suggestions about photoshop, etc. to make things right.

I would suggest the same as PP can you request she photoshop them.  If she doesnt know how can she outsource it to someone who does.  I feel like she really owes you that much because even if you get some or all of you money back you cant redo the pictures.  I am soo sorry you are going through this.

I think I may be getting too bitchy for this board. It's also sad that I have way too much time on my hands now and was so bored this weekend that I actually tried to respond appropriately to that post. UGH I need a life.

Angie- I am pretty good at editing stuff on my mac. I could give it a try if you want to send me a pic or 2. If she shot in RAW then that's easy to fix, but a little harder in JPEG. Let me know!

What I meant was that it's not the sole reason they are the way they are (my uncle is actually from here) but it's definitely changed him.

    NickandMerritt,
I seriously doubt that you would actually tell someone you are related to what my uncle told my dad.  So, even though I have never met you, I don't think you're socially awkward.
