Inviting the same people to 2 showers?

My girlfriends are having a shower for me and my fiance's frat is having a shower for us. What is the etiqutte on inviting people for both showers? I am guessing it's looked down upon. Could we still invite the same people and ask for them not to bring gifts if they came to the first one? One shower is a "general" shower and the other is a "stock the bar" shower. Thanks!

DH is from another town so we were thrown a general shower and a personal shower both in his town and here in Dallas. We invited some of the same people to both showers, but I let those people know that they were not obligated to bring a gift to both, or either for that matter. HTH!

Obviously, when I was MOH, I went to all three showers that were in Dallas for my friend. But also, I had another friend who had like four showers or something, and I was invited to two plus the bachelorette party. One was her big general shower and one was a scrapbooking shower. I personally think it's fine to invite people to more than one. As far as I know, the etiquette for the attendee is to bring a big gift to one shower and small gifts to the others. But I'm sure they'd appreciate having the pressure taken off by you telling them not to stress about the gifts.

I invited my very closest friends (and sister of course) to both showers--but I certainly wouldn't have expected a gift for both.  I think it's fine to invite them and let them know they aren't expected to bring a gift to both.

I don't see a problem with inviting people to both showers. I did.  I say invite who you want to your showers even if a few people get invited to both.
