My FI wants knottie advice and experience. :) Tux

Okay, so we ordered our tuxes! Woohoo! Then, the at the end, the lady was like, "So you probably want the groom to match you, so should we do your chosen style in ivory on ivory?" ... Josh and I looked at each other, "....??"

Okay, I realize we are adults and we can do what we want, but what's the norm here? We were thinking the groom would match the men, but with a slightly different tie, different bout, etc.

This would be the groomsmen in silver/pewter and Josh in an ivory/ivory... not sure if it matters but all flowers on or held by the bridal party will be red, all flowers/candles decorating the ceremony space will be creams/ivories..

My FI is getting the exact same tux as the groomsmen. The only differences -- the groomsmen get a pocket square that matches the tux vest material instead of a boutonniere, and FI gets a white pocket square and a white rose boutonniere.

I think it will look fine.  Bill wore the ivory/ivory and everyone else wore black/ivory.

Ben matched his groomsmen and father except for his bout was bigger.  Otherwise, eveything was the same.  Don't stress about it, just pick what you want.  If you want your FI to be different, that is fine, but he doesn't have to "match" you.  It's simply a matter of preference.

It's not like no one will know he's the groom.  ;)

ETA: Oh I forgot to add, I do like that combo though and think it would look great.

Fi is doing Ivory too. It is honestly a matter or preference. The guys are all doing Blue and my girls are in Lavendar so I went with that.

We are doing the same as Marie: same look, different pocket square and larger bout.

I'm not so good with the advice... Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment?

He is completely deciding this, but he was unsure! Then we just thought we would google stuff to see different looks. Then we thought we would just ask you ladies.

It seemed at Al's you HAD to buy the combos they had, so we can change up the pocket square/ties but only if we do that on our own on the side.

Also, keep in mind, I think he WANTS to be different than the guys once his jacket (and bout) are off... he's just not sure HOW different. So, I was thinking something as subtle as buying him a darker shade of gray/pewter tie. Or a gray tie with a little bit of red in it. Or a gray tie with a little bit of ivory in it? (ivory diagnol stripes? hmm that may or may not look funny)... orrr the ivory tie/ivory vest combo.

Also keep in mind, I REALLY don't care what he wears. He can wear whatever he wants. He will look great, no matter what. ;)

Yup my DH was in Ivory/Ivory and his GM were in Lapis/Lapis.  I actually changed my mind a couple times on what my DH was going to wear and am very happy I stuck with the Ivory.

Do what you like because it is really your preference!

My FI is doing black/black/black, and the groomsmen are going to have white shirts with a Lapis vest & tie. So you can do whatever you want, he doesn't have to match unless he wants to.

Man, the more we look at it (yes, him, too!!), the more we are thinking the ivory/ivory looks pretty sharp.
