Best Wineries in Grapevine?

My friends and I are planning an afternoon in Grapevine to go to several wineries to do tastings. We're doing it because one friend is getting married and wants to pick some wines for her wedding. (But it's also fun!) Does anyone have any experiences to share, good or bad? Recommendations? TIA!

I loved Homestead wines! I bought the Sweet Home Ivanhoe and it is delicious! Are you going to take the trolley/bus for the wine tour? We did a couple of years ago and it was really fun, and a lot easier than driving around everywhere.

My parents also love Homestead wines.   The Rose of Ivanhoe is their favorite as well....but it is sweet.  DH and I sometimes drink Homestead Red Table wine.

We did a tasting at Delaney and buy wine from there on occasion.  It is a pretty cool winery and they do tours, too.

I looooove Su Vino Winery. http://www.suvinowinery.com

The people there are sooo nice. About twice a month they do a girls night out, it kinda gets a little vulgar sometimes with sexual jokes because they play a little game. It's mostly PG-13, though. It's thirty dollars and you get a glass of wine, a glass of flavored champagne, seven wine tastings, and you get to bottle and take home a wine. The day I went, we bottled a wine called Peachy Keen and it was a peach flavored white wine, which was very good. The wines are amazing. I love the Summer Rain and will probably buy a case for my wedding. It's a Reisling with an apple flavor, very good.

    la Bueta vista is so-so

the one at the very end of the main street is horrible!!! i can't remember their name - they are in a small house by itself. the people are rude and the wine sucks!!!
the others listed here are awesome!!!

Thanks for the tips everyone! I was planning on doing the driving to save money, but I've never been over there - is parking bad? One the map it looks like most of them are close enough to walk between, or am I mistaken?

There are public parking places but they fill up on weekends.  They are close enough to walk once you find parking!  We go to Main St days and Grapefest every year and I walked the Main St wineries a week after surgery so I think you will be fine!

Great, thanks! We're going on a weekday afternoon, so hopefully parking will be easier!

what i usually do is drive down main street and right before you get to da'vine wine, there is a free public parking lot on the right. i park there and walk down main street and hit the ones there (da'vine, su vino, and a least one more that opened up, but i think is more of a wine store but has samples). there was one right next to the parking lot that closed down, but now is a store that has cute stuff - worth it to check out. then i get back into my car and drive down worth street to homestead and they have parking there. it looks like an old house. then drive over to college street (just a few blocks away) and hit La Buena Vida Vineyards. then either before or after all this, i hit delaney which is a little bit of a drive away, but i really like the tour..... as you can see... i've done this quite a few times!!!!

Dana-- so you're ordering a case of Summer Rain, too? Is that going to be your only wine? We were wondering if we should get a red wine for people who don't like white. Are you going to have it on everyone's table or are you going to have someone serve it? It's soooo good, now I want some! lol Have you had the Peachy Keen? I'm not a Peach person but it definitely started tasting really good after about the first half of the glass... haha

Haha, Bridget, I think I'll just follow your schedule! How much do the tastings cost?

While you're there, go look at Gypsy Warehouse-- such cute stuff! It's across the street and down a ways from Su Vino.

each place is different - the ones on main street are slightly higher.... this is the trick.... there is NO way you hit all these spots and still be standing... so, if the tasting is say 3 for $5 (about 4 for $5 off the main street). then you and 1-2 other people (i've done up to 4 people, but 3 is good) do maybe 3 of those, so total pick out 9 different wines and you all share a little taste from each. that way you can taste more wine that way. i like to bring paper and keep notes. i always end up buying a ton of wine. i bring my in-laws and my mom there every time they come into town.
delaney's is slightly different. the tour is free and Tours are given on the hour, tastings on the half hour. Tastings are $10 per person plus tax and include five different Delaney Wines. these will be done all together with whoever else is there at that time. you don't get to choose the wines, but i think they only sell about 6 wines. they will usually give you an "extra" tasting to make 6 if they have it available.

Bridget you sound like me and my group of friends.  We love Grapevine.  Su Vino and Da Vine are my fav and FI usually has to drag me out of both!

Amber-Right now that is all we are getting but I think I'm going to order either a half batch of either red or the Peachy Keen.  We are giving some of the bottles as WP gifts with personalized wine glasses so we need more than 15-20 bottles for our guest.  I just don't know which route to go and I don't like red so I won't even try them.  I guess I'll need to make a decision soon because we have to go pick it up and put our own lables on it next month.  Just another thing to had to my to-do list.

BTW I'm stopping by Su Vino on my way home now to get a bottle for my sister and I to drink during our chick-flick tonight!

When we went to the girls night out thing a few weeks ago, they had a paper that had the price of cases and it seemed pretty reasonable. I can't remember how many bottles were in the case.... some of the red wines they have are not stereotypical tasting of red wine. They just came out with a red wine called "Mambo" that I really want to try!

Delaney Vineyards is my favorite.  They have a nice vineyard around the winery and do tours and tastings.  I strongly considered having my Wedding there.
