Veil Help

Hi ladies,

My dress came in last week, and I have no idea what kind of veil to wear with it, so I have a few questions.

Here's a link to my dress, and I'm wearing my hair up: http://www.alfredangelo.com/Collections/ProductDisplay.aspx?productID=75db7766-9490-46e0-9ceb-44f26a8c5f7f&categoryID=54246401-6ad2-4745-894e-d0dc006d72c8&pg=1&colorId1=

1. Do you have recommendations for styles?
2. Did you take your dress somewhere to try on veils, and if so, where did you go?  The store I got it at didn't have that many veil options, and I've completely changed my mind on my hairstyle since then anyway.

Thanks!

I love your dress!  I tried on a few veils at the store where I bought my dress.  I didn't buy the veil there, I actually bought it off of Etsy.  But it is the same style as one of the veils I tried on.

I'm sure you can take it to a bridal store and try on different veils with it.

I personally think, because the back has so many beautiful details, that you should wear a shorter veil, like to your elbow.

This veil would be pretty, without the white edges. I like the length for your dress.

Then again, I'm not so great with style, I could be way off what you personally would be looking for.

Angie, ordering a veil online (through Etsy or Ebay for example), is going to be cheaper than going to a retail store.  Some of the higher end bridal boutiques have veils that are $300!  Insane!

I think since your dress has a lot of detailing work on the back, you should go with a simpler veil.  If your wedding is more formal, maybe just a plain cathedral length veil that has no embellishments, then you could see the detailing on your dress through the veil.  If your wedding is more casual, maybe a finger tip length veil that stops between the designs on the bodice of your dress and the train, either a very thin ribbon edge or plain edge.

<div>I would do this. It's a very formal dress, and I'm afraid a shorter veil might not do it justice. I'd take the veil off for the reception either way. </div>

My AA store was really helpful with picking out my veil to go with my dress.  I loved my veil.  I also loved the long one they had -- but it was $400!  I tried on an affordable long veil but it was not available in ivory and the sample in the store was damaged.  Ultimately, I loved the veil that went with my dress so I just got it in the shorter version and kept it on all night.  But I agree a simple long veil would probably look lovely with that dress.  There really is something about a long veil that is just so exquisite.  And you could get a pretty hair fascinator or flower for the reception.

I feel that dress needs a veil a little longer than the train.  I think it would be very elegant.  But something very simple- no embellishment.

If the bridal store is too pricey, I'd try Etsy.  I know of several Knotties on my month board that went through Etsy for their veils and were very pleased with the result.
