Texas-Dallas and Ft. Worth

Location for Bridal Pics

I am getting married NYE and having a Christmas-themed wedding with red and gold as my main colors. I am looking to take my Bridals around Christmas trees and other Christmas related props. What areas have really amazing Christmas scenery and about what day do they start to put them out for the season? I live in Ennis so probably nowhere further than west of Fort Worth, north of Carollton, or east of Rockwall. Thanks girls!!

Most places start setting up a little before Thanksgiving, now, I think.  You could try the Gaylord (although they'd probably charge a fee).  I liked the Christmas setup in downtown Grapevine, too (but it was small).

Your photographer should have a good idea for places.

Maybe a hotel like the Stoneleigh--they have that beautiful red couch too that is great for bridals.  Or somewhere like Arlington Hall?  I think both of them are $150--but not sure how great the Christmas decor is, I'm just assuming it would be pretty.  Maybe the Hilton at the Harbor if that is closer--you could get pretty outdoor shots also.

Yeah I was shocked. It did include a room for 4 hours and lunch... Wow, thanks. And the Hilton at the Harbor would be really pretty. There is a boat on the lake that someone hanging lights all over.. It just floats around during the holidays. That could be cool for a fun shot. I also live in Ennis and had trouble figuring out where to go. Check out Aristide in Mansfield. I called and they were 100 or 150 to use the space. I have no idea about Christmas decorations, but you could always ask.

My sis took pics at Hilton at the Harbor and they turned out beautiful. The docks and the inside of the hotel are very picturesque.

The Aristide in Mansfield is gorgeous! WOW! I had no idea that it existed. Definitely will remember that one.

Thanks so much! And nice to know there are other Ennis-ites on here. Are you having  your wedding in Ennis?

Yeah it is a very pretty place. I thought about having the wedding there but for some reason I didnt. It was either due to money or the outside space.. Cant remember. We are getting married at Los Vaqueros in the Stockyards. I wanted an outside wedding and this place has a great garden and it was not expensive at all!!! And I am from Fort Worth, so I mainly looked in the Tarrant County areas.

Where are you two getting married?

  • edited December 2011
That sounds beautiful. In another life I would have an outdoor wedding. I've always loved them. And The Stockyards are such a unique and distinct part of DFW. Pictures will be breathtaking!

I'm very traditional so I am getting married in Ennis at St. John Catholic Church and reception at the KJT Hall, also in Ennis.

Someone told me the white house across from the library was open to rent for parties... At night it is so pretty with all the lights in the trees. Would have been the perfect place, but I was too chicken to call and ask. Oh well. Now all my Ennis friends have to rent rooms for the night!!!

I think Harriette Adams owns it and I've seen pretty lights from their backyard and I know they decorate for Christmas so that may be an option. What a great idea!!

Funny how you mention that to a native Ennis-ite and I never thought about it. I guess I shouldn't completely disqualify my "stomping grounds".lol

    Thanks!!

The Crescent Court area (not the hotel but the courtyard) by Stanley Korshak and Palominos is beautiful during Christmas- they have these beautiful fountains in the courtyard and then out in the front (on maple and Cedar Springs) they have tons of Christmas decorations. I don't think they charge anything. If you go early on a Saturday or Sunday morning, this is the least busy time. Also- the display in front of Neiman Marcus in Downtown Dallas is always super neat. Last but not least- the city of Dallas puts up a massive Christmas tree by the Magnolia hotel between Jackson and Commerce.

Another couple of super beautiful locations with Christmas decor (outside unfortunately- but free!) are the shops at highland village on the corner of 1171 and 407 (picture here: http://www.panoramio.com/photo/44897193) and then the Southlake Town Center. Both do spectacular Christmas displays. I know these might be a little bit further than you said, but both again are free and do great displays.

Also try Highland Park village (preston and Mockingbird). It is all the ritzy shops but it looks amazing.
Snider Plaza also decorates (by SMU- at Hillcrest south of Lovers).

Hope this gives you some ideas :)

Ha!! I wasnt even thinking about bridals when I said that!!! BUT that would be sooo pretty. It is a beautiful house, with all that old charm. I love how she changes the hats on those geese. When I tell people about it, they look at me weird, but it looks sooo cute. Especially their TCU hats for football season!! And no folks reading this, they are not those tacky plastic geese, they are cement geese and they look cute in their hats.  The house is very grand and it makes me laugh everytime I drive by and see their Easter hats, Halloween hats, whatever, makes me think she doesnt take herself too seriously.

    OH.

Downtown Plano is BEAUTIFUL at night that time of year.  I don't know if you want to take your pics at night, though.

Aeliza-I love the word FREE!!! You have my faves so far.

Lauram-I love those geese and always looking to see what she has picked next. And that house does have the old Southern charm to it.I'm definitely going to call her and ask.

Just an FYI, I believe the Stoneleigh only allows bridals if the bride is have her wedding there. It's a recent change.

How about Thistle Hill in Ft. Worth? It is $150 for bridals and I'm almost 100% positive they decorate the whole place for the holidays.
