New but I've been lurking (kinda long)

Hello!

I have been lurking for awhile and I thought it was only fair to introduce myself. My fiance and I have been engaged since Thanksgiving 2010 and we are getting married on June 23, 2012 in the Dallas area.

I have been with my fiance for a little over 2 years. We have been through a lot together from me finishing my master's degree and searching for a teaching job to his unemployment to the sudden death of his dad.

As of right now we do not having an official venue but we are just days away. My parents are paying for the big majority of the wedding so I'm waiting on them (mostly my mom) to make a final decision. Our colors are blue and pink...very boy and girl.

Since the death of my fiance's dad, his mom has been struggling with money because she has MS and can't stand for long periods of time and has to walk with a cane. She finally got on her disability so she can live but that doesn't leave much money left to help pay what the groom/groom's family would normally pay for so that's up to us!

I'm starting to do some of my DIY projects since I still have about a month before summer vacation is over and I'm back in the classroom.

I'm so excited to be marrying my best friend and starting the newest chapter in my life!

Welcome! One of the prettiest weddings I ever saw was blue and pink. It was years ago and I remember when my friend told me her colors, I had trouble imagining it--then I got there and it was so pretty.

Congrats and welcome!!! We have some very creative girls on this board who can definitely give you ideas to get the look you want on budget. I have never seen a blue and pink wedding myself but I bet like stephiehall said that could be really beautiful. Thanks for introducing yourself

Congrats and welcome! Sorry to hear about your FI's father. Both myself and DH had periods of unemployment during our dating/engagement period and I know how tough it can be! I can't help on any DIY projects since I am the opposite of crafty/creative, but if you ever want budget-friendly wedding tips, I still have a lot of them churning around in my head.

Can't wait to hear details of your wedding! I think blue and pink sounds fabulous. We actually had a variety of pastel colors -- one bridesmaid wore pink and one wore blue, in fact.

Congrats and welcome!!

I LOVE blue and pink (my fav colors). I wanted my wedding to have those colors.....FI wanted Red and Black...so we compromised.
