Hello! & Wanted: Apothecary Jars & Milk Glass

Hello ladies!
I guess I should formally introduce myself since I've already posted a couple of times. :)

My name is Angela & I'm an ICU RN except that I'm currently laid up at home due to a broken ankle from a horse riding accident. I'm going to be out of commission until at least August so I might be bugging you guys a lot between now & then! :)

My fiance's name is Daniel & he just finished the police academy! We will be getting married next April at a gorgeous venue. Is it ok to post our venues before the wedding? I'm really excited about it & I want to share it!!
I have already ordered my dress & I'm pretty excited about it too. It's a Sottero & Midgley dress & it's inspired a lot of my reception ideas.

I'm thinking of a vintage light gold & blush theme since my dress is actually champagne with light gold details. I need a third darker color but I haven't been able to come up with a good one.

SO on to my main question. I was wondering if anyone has any apothecary jars or milk glass pieces for sale. I'm wanting to do a candy buffet with the apothecary jars & I want to use milk glass vases, bowls, cake stands, etc for my centerpieces for the vintage vibe. I have almost a year until I actually need them but I just wanted to get started now since I have nothing else to do. Smile I'm also looking on Craigslist but thought it would be good to help out other brides get rid of their stuff.

Hopefully I didn't reveal too much info about myself or my wedding plans, I don't use message boards very often. I really want to gush about all of my awesome vendors but I heard bad things can happen when you do? That's so sad, I'm so excited about everything!!

Well thanks so much for reading everything! You guys seems very nice & I'm looking forward to getting everyone's opinions!

So I saw on other posts that people are putting down their venue.

I am getting married at the Trinity River Audubon Center here in Dallas! It is gorgeous & very eco-minded. It's really intended for education & nature walks but it has a beautiful Great Hall. I'm also going to rent a classroom so I can stick all the little kids in a separate room with babysitters. Laughing

Not only is it fine to share, but crazy brides like myself have actually created a bio where it has ALL our wedding info on it! See the link next to my picture!

Great, I guess I'll have to get started on my own planning bio so I can keep track of everything! So how do y'all keep it safe & prevent people from messing with your vendors? Don't put your wedding date? Do you list your vendors or just your decorating ideas? I also heard about giving your vendors a passcode, has anyone done this?

I didn't list my wedding date, but Ive mentioned it enough that people on here know what it is. I didn't include my vendors in my bio for that very reason, though.

I recommend MarthaStewartWeddings.com for vintage ideas.

I also got amost of my apothecary jars for my candy buffet at TJMaxx and Marshalls--they are the cheapest I've found. Pics in my bio

    Welcome!  Your dress is stunning!

There is a thread a few ways down with a woman selling her daughter's candy buffet jars.  Also there is a "Trash to Treasure" board on the Nest where people sell their stuff.  I got all of my jars at TJ Maxx/Marshalls so if you have to buy from a store that is a good option.  Also, Donnaaries who just got married did the milk jars for her centerpieces so maybe she will have some good tips (or even some for sale).

I posted everything in my bios--I really didn't figure anyone was interested enough in my wedding to care!  :)

I think I have a bunch of info listed too Steph.  I haven't really seen anyone trying to mess with my vendors but I have them all under contract before I listed them.

    Welcome to the boards!

I'm pretty sure as long as you don't give out your or your fiance's last name, you should be ok. But if you feel the need to be extra careful, like someone said above, give your vendors a passcode so nothing can get changed by anyone bu you or FI.

So sad that we have to worry about something like that. Can't believe there are such evil people out there to do something like that.

Welcome to the board and I must say YOUR DRESS IS FABULOUS and the venue is to die for; great choices!!!  You've received some great tips on where to get/find/buy the candy buffet jars from some really nice local knotties so hopefully you'll be able to get the items you are looking for at a really great price.

    Happy Planning!!Smile

Welcome to the DFW Board... this is SUCH a friendly board and we're all here to cheer eachother on every step on the way.  :)

Side note - what's with the vendor passcodes and stuff like that?? People messing with your vendors?!? I'm so confused... what happens??

Bsn, when I first came to the boards, I was warned not to give out my last name or any other personal information. Tthere have been cases where "knotties" get your vendor info and go cancel your reservation for your date. Thankfully, I haven't heard it happen to any of the ladies on here, but it's always better to be safe than sorry!
