Gift for your Fiance

Hi Girls!!!
I need some gift giving advice. I want to get my fiance something fun and exciting but useable as well as thoughtful. Any ideas?

He enjoys biking/cycling. We also travel a lot and have talked about getting a nice, professional camera.

Please help!

Re: Gift for your Fiance

  • I just bought my FI a "pre-wedding" present (not going to give it to him on the wedding day, but before, so he has time to put it in his apartment and not have to carry it with us on the HM).  It's a book of grilling recipes and ideas from Weber.  He LOVES to grill, and it was inexpensive, and something he'll be able to use for a long time (For himself AND for us!!).

Anyway -- is there something that you know he LOVES to do, but maybe could find a gift that wouldn't be too expensive or bulky?  The professional camera sounds great, but in my research, those run around $700 plus, right?  (I'm thinking of the Nikon DSLR's and such).  Just depends on your budget.  If he's into biking/cycling, maybe a GPS mapper that shows his route and where he's been so he can keep a map of all of his travels.
July 16, Our Wedding Day, is also International Juggling Day!

  • If it's in your price range to buy a camera as a gift to both of you, that sounds awesome, and then you could both enjoy it on the honeymoon.

I've gotten people gorilla tripods for cameras before, and they have told me that they're great items.  They basically allow you to set up a mini-tripod for your camera anywhere.  LL Bean has a couple of kinds, http://www.llbean.com/llb/search?init=1&freeText=gorrilla+pod, and you could probably look on other sites like REI, Camp Mor, etc. to find different styles or maybe discounts.  I think it's a good gift for people who like to travel and are semi-into photography.

There is no possible way that I could pick out a better gift for your fiance than you can.

Ditto.  You know him best you know what he likes.  If he wants/needs a camera, I think that's a great idea.  So is cycling stuff if you know what he wants.  I think a personal present like these geared towards what he loves are way better than generic presents like a watch or cufflinks.
  • LOL I'm hoping the new Wii will be out by then. He's not a big gamer, but he's excited to get a Wii. He's a software engineer so he's very techy and felt there were some things wrong with the original so he wanted to wait. Also, him and his groomsmen can have fun playing after the RD and the morning of the wedding. LOL Everyone is getting ready at the wedding/reception venue so he won't be late, even if he gets captivated.
  • Flip video cameras are awesome!
  • You could alwasy opt for something more *personal. Photographers usually have really great deals for like boudiar sessions. I did one for my FI and it was too much fun!

  • Thanks for your help everyone! This gives me a better idea. I know all of the things that he likes; I guess I just needed to hear that a camera or something that he likes is better than the mushy, typical gifts :)

Ditto this... I did a boudoir album for DH and it's one of the best gift reactions I've ever seen. I love that it's something that's just for him and we'll have forever.
  • Check out etsy.com. My FI loves playing his guitar, and I love hearing it. On Etsy, someone made a stearling silver guitar pick engraved with the words, "I pick you". I CAN NOT wait to give it to him on our wedding day :)  Personal inexpensive gifts are the way to go in my opinion.

    Good Luck!
