Registry and Family Pressure

I don't want to sound like an ungrateful bride, but this sort of pushed both our buttons(Fi and I). We have been registered for cutlery at Amazon for about two months.  Recently there was a family party(his side of the family).  One of his younger cousins sells knives.  And I had to "listen" through her presentation because I am the "new bride" and she mentioned that she'd be getting new knives if I registered with her.  The whole thing happened with other family members looking on so it was one of those "say yes or you look like you are rude" type of deals. The thing that ticks me off the most is none of these people are even coming to the freaking wedding?  What gives them the right to determine was is and is not on my freaking registry? The more I think about it the madder I get.

Re: Registry and Family Pressure

  • Don't register with her.  If you did already, don't tell anyone about it or delete it.
  • This happened with me and a cousin of mine that sells Pampered Chef.  I felt like I couldn't say no when she asked at Christmas dinner if she could throw a Pampered Chef party.I ended up saying no because I thought it was rude of her to offer a shower in which she was going benefit monetarily.  If I were you, I would do the same.  Tell her thank you but no, you already have decided to register with Amazon for your knives.  Don't get me wrong I love Pampered Chef but it is out of the price range for myself and many of my friends and I didn't want to put that pressure on them either. If she gets mad then that's on her.
