FI and I have owned our home for almost a year now and have a lot of our typical "registry" items already (kitchen gadgets, dishes, etc). As such, I thought that it would be a good idea to do one of our registries at Sears so we could get other things, like tools, that we have been borrowing from our dads every time we need them. Well, that was a BAD IDEA! We went today and had a horrible experience. Firstly, they kept us waiting for close to 45 minutes before we even got a scanner to select our items. Then, when we finally got it, it didn't work. We waited for someone to find another scanner which, in turn, didn't work either. The manager told us, "well, you could just go around and type in the USB code for each of your items." We tried that, and it STILL didn't work (we got a message that said "this item is unable to be placed on your registry" for luggage)! The manager's response was, "you must be doing it wrong. Do I have to come over and show you how to input the numbers?" At this point, I became frustrated and exclaimed, "it isn't exactly rocket science! I think I know how to type in a barcode." She rolled her eyes, took the scanner and tried it, saying, "well, I guess you are right...it's broken. You should just go around and write down what you want and then try and find it later online. But be careful, sometimes typical registry items, like Kitchen Aid mixers, don't show up when you do it that way." Ugh, after an hour and a half of their BS, we gave up and decided that we'll go elsewhere for our power tools.
