Dillard's vs Kohl's

My FI and I are planning to register in November - at Bed, Bath and Beyond and either Kohl's or Dillard's. Has anyone registered at Kohl's or Dillard's and have any suggestions? I'd really appreciate your opinions :) Thanks!

Re: Dillard's vs Kohl's

  • I registered at Kohl's and overall had a pretty good experience.  The only complaint I have is that the staff (and I went to multiple stores) wasn't really ever trained on creating, updating, or adding to registries and it was often just easier to add online.Additionally, while I didn't have trouble with it, you need to watch the registry carefully for items that are no longer available.  Kohl's takes overstock (like Big Lots) and items aren't always available.
  • Dillard's is a real department store, with quality merchandise suitable for wedding gifts. Kohl's is s discount store that's deliberately positioned to be lower than a department store but above the lowest discount stores that sell other stores' rejected merchandise - like Big Lots . Kohl's doesn't look like a department store and doesn't do business like a department store. Here's a clip from Kohl's on Wikipedia: "Kohl’s operates differently from traditional department stores. The most noticeable distinction is that Kohl's stores have centralized checkout aisles, where a single line is used for check-outs. This has led many observers to consider Kohl's a hybrid of a department store and a mass merchandiser. Kohl's also uses a "racetrack" aisle that circles the entire store, a technique borrowed from discount stores but rarely used in department stores."
  • dillard's much nicer...kohl's i've had problems with online ordering...not once, not twice, but three times...they're out!
  • We origionally registered at Kohl's & Bed Bath & Beyond but cancelled our registry at Kohl's because we noticed BB&B had more of a selection & their prices were about 10% more than BB&B.
