Engagement Pictures: When??

Hey ladies! 

My wedding is not until November 2011 but I am curious as to when we should get our engagement pictures?  I don't want them done while it is too hot or too cold.  If you were me, when would you get them taken??  We want to use one picture for our STD so it has to be at least 6 months before.

My wedding was in Sept.   We took our e-pics in April.

I would say next April would be the best time.   That's 7 months so you will have an extra month to make sure you pick the right picture and get them out by your 6 month mark!

Maybe the end of March.  Our wedding is in April and we are doing them in Oct to send out STDs the end of Nov.

We got engaged in December and had our pictures taken this past February.  Our wedding isn't until next April though.  I also wanted ours earlier because we don't have any nice pictures of ourselves together.

I got married in November and we did ours in early May.  It was almost too hot.

Our wedding is in Aug and we did our pictures at the begining of April ( after a couple of reschedules... first snow in March,  then rain).

wow good question.. we need to do ours. Our wedding is in June/July 2011 and I figured we wouldn't need to get them done until December, Jan, or Feb... is three or four months too late to send out STDs?

We were engaged Feb 10', doing engagements mid Sept and getting married April 2, 2011.  I think fall or spring would be best for you.

AmberMarie: We're getting married in June also but are doing ours probably in late Sept/early Oct this year so we can get STDs in the mail before Christmas! If you don't mind the cold weather then I suggest doing them no later than November and then wait till after Christmas to send them out.

We got engaged March 2009, took our pictures this past May (and it was super hot, I would suggest earlier than May), and our wedding is next April.

We did our engagement photos 10 months before the wedding because we wanted to send out STD's at the 6 month mark.  You have the luxury of time on your side, I'd say it depends on the look you want, fall or spring.

our wedding is in August and we did ours at the beginning of April. The temperature was perfect. A little chilly when the sun went down, but better than being 100 degrees.

I would wait until at least March or April of next year.

We took ours REALLY early! But, in all honesty, we didn't plan on taking any. (We have tons of pics of us to use for STDs) My dad ended up taking ours when we went down to visit.  They turned out really well!  IMO, I don't think it truly matters when you take them as long as you are comfortable when taking them!

We took engagement pictures at the very end of April. I wished we'd done it at the beginning or middle of the month instead, because by the end of April it was already pretty hot.

Keep in mind whether you want fall or spring (or even a different season) and what you want to wear in your pictures. FI and I both wanted to wear jeans and a long-sleeved top, which meant we were roasting a little bit. A few weeks earlier, it would have been fine.

Great question!!!  I thought I needed to get those together asap...like right around the time of engagement!!!  LoL... nice to know I have some time...thank you for posting the question, and thank you to all the ladies who responded!!!

The only reason I wouldn't want to do mine a year or more out, is because that's a long time and you never know what can happen. I was engaged to someone else before FI, we got our e-pics taken right after we got engaged but weren't getting married for over a year. We ended up breaking up 7 months prior to the wedding and then I had e-pics plastered all over the place, and I had to contact the old photographer and ask her to take down the pictures off her website and blog. Embarassing. Not to mention we spent a lot of money for those pictures.

I think unfortunately, this happens more than it should. I have had 2 friends in the last year whose engagements were broken off after they had already taken e-pics for the world to see, and spent a lot of money on them.

Not saying that would ever happen to ANYONE on here, that's just my 2 cents.

My photographer told me late March/early April and October are the best times for color, temp for E-Pics.  I'm planning to do mine in October.

My wedding is at the end of November...I will probably do our Sept or Oct.

I dont see why you have to do the months before...unless you want to us them for your STD's
