Registry and Gift Forum

Please help me with ideas

I am planning my sister's bridal shower.  She has a few small registries at stores, but she put a larger focus on her honeymoon registry which is the most suitable to her situation (they already live together and don't need a whole lot).  I am trying to find ways to incorporate the honeymoon registry gifts into the shower, maybe in a game or some other form.  I need any help I can get.  I just don't want any awkwardness at the shower because we have the venue for 4 hours and I know we won't spend a lot of time opening gifts.  I am going to make sure she opens up cards and thanks people for their honeymoon contributions, but I want to make it a little more fun.  Also, any suggestions on fun games for a crowd of 25-60 yr old women would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks so much!

  • Most people will buy physical gifts from the other stores for a shower, so I wouldn't worry about coming up with something for the honeymoon gifts.
  • The point of the shower is the shower the bride with gifts not money. If she has a small registry, she will probably get some random gifts for the shower. People tend to give cash gifts more for the wedding not shower. A lot of people find HM registries distasteful.
  • Ditto PP. Focus on the physical gifts because that is the point of a shower. Typically HM registries are discouraged.

  • Your games don't have to be associated with the gifts - you can play games about the bride and groom, games about weddings in general, etc. Google is your friend, I promise.

  • Honeymoon registries are rude, because they are a thinly veiled beg for cash.

If all she wants is money, she doesn't need a shower.  Showers are for gifts. No one wants to sit around watching her open cards, and it's in very poor taste for guests to know how much each person spent on a gift (or in this case, how much they gave her).  Don't give her a shower unless she has plenty of physical gifts on her registry, because that is what people want to buy.
