Cruise!

Where would be the best website to use to book a honeymoon cruise at a great price?? Has anyone been on a cruise recently and if so where did you travel?

We went with Royal Carribean for our honeymoon. We did a 4 day cruise from Miami, FL to Nassau and CoCo Cay, Bahamas and Key West, Florida. It was fantastic. I have pictures in my bio if you'd like to look. www.11282009.weebly.com

We booked thru a family friend that works with travel agencies. If I were you, I'd check with a travle agent to get a good price. A lot of times, they'll tie in airfare with the cruise and make it a little cheaper than if you booked on your own.

i would check on the cruise site themselves - royal carribean and carnival, and see what cruises you like, then try a travel agent and see what price they can get on the same cruise. i have cruised on both of these several times... my fav trip went to the grand cayman, jamica and cozumel. 7 night cruises are usually only a small cost more than 5 night cruises. if  you go out of galveston, you can drive there and park your car. if you do, i'd suggest staying at ahotel the night before it leaves and find one that will let you park your car there all week for free.

i used caryn and she is awesome:

My FI and I went on a cruise last August on Royal Caribbean. We went to a travel agent who told us not to book the airfare through the cruise line directly and we did it separate and saved $800. We also just booked everything ourselves because the travel agent was going to charge us a fee and it would have been more expensive using her, so I would price out both doing it on your own or using the agent.

We flew to Puerto Rico and boarded the cruise there and went to Barbados, Antigua, St. Lucia, St. Croix, and St. Maarten. It was amazing, I highly recommend that cruise, but it is a little bit more expensive. Oh, and it was a 7 day cruise.

I've been on a couple of cruises on both Carnival and Royal Caribbean, and really enjoy the 7 night cruises.  We normally book with my mom's cousin who is retired and does some travel packages on the side (he normally books group cruises which is how we all get the discount.)

I would check out cruisecritic for some advice on ships/itineraries and possible deals on booking.

Check the website of each cruise company directly.

    Expedia
    Travelocity

Book the airfare on your own. Oh, and booking a cruise is very easy. It is not something I would hire a travel agent for. If you have tons of questions use www.cruisecritics.com

Many websites will tell you Royal Carribean is better than Carnival. I have cruised both and find I could go back to either company and be fine.

If you do a 7 day cruise, pay attention to the number of ports you are visiting. The more the merrier.

Cruises are a very economical form of travel. In addition to the cruise price, be prepared to pay taxes and a tip of about $10pp per day of the cruise. Also alcohol and sodas are not included. Calculate as well the cost of travelling to the port (driving to Houston, flying to Miami, etc).

    Good Luck!!

We are going on a 7 day cruise in November and booked through Royal Carribbean directly. However, knowing what I do now I would go with cruisecompete.com
it is a bunch of travel agents who try to compete for your business, they can't offer discount on the actual price but they can offer incentives, like onboard credits or discounts on excursions.

Good Luck!!! Either way it will be a blast :)

I'm a cruise-booking maniac, lol. I always check carnival.com or rccl.com to see what cruises are lower in price and fit my time frame. Generally cruises are expensive during the summer and holidays. You can find really good deals from August to April, excluding holidays. Hurricane season is especially cheap. Then, after you have set your eye on a specific cruise, go to cruisecompete.com and put in the information. Travel agents will then send price information to your cruise compete account (not e-mail, which is nice). Look at the quotes, they are always lower than the cruise websites. Often times TAs offer incentives like wine or on-board-credit. Some people prefer to book through official cruise websites for peace of mind, but I always book through a TA from cruise compete and I always save money doing that. I love cruising so I do whatever I can to save money so I can cruise some more! :) lol
Disclaimer: Please excuse the above comment. I'm probably freaking out because there is less than one month to go. Thank you.
