gifts for eachother?

My FI & I decided that paying for the wedding that we want is enough of a gift to eachother, but I'm curious......are anymore of you skipping the gifts to eachother?

We decided we wanted to. We both wrote letters to one another, and I got him a bottle of his favorite cologne and he got me a lovely necklace.

I don't really understand the point of exchanging gifts with each other.  We'll get plenty of gifts from other people.

We decided our gift to each other is the vow to spend the rest of our lives together.

We're still doing the gifts, I think it's fun.  We're exchanging the night before the wedding, and then day of the wedding I"m sending over cigars and scotch for him.

We splurged on our honeymoon so decided not to do gifts to each other.

Yeah, we are in the same boat.  We paid for our entire wedding and honeymoon ourselves and saved up for it for a while.  It seemed silly to buy each other another present when we're already spending so much together.  We did end up getting each other cards to delivery before the ceremony (unplanned with each other!).

I guess I get the buying presents for each other when your parents/family are paying for your wedding.  But when you are funding the whole thing yourself, it is just another line item in the budget.  We'll probably get each other nice presents on our 1 year anniversary when money isn't so tight!

We're not exchanging gifts.  To us getting married is the gift.

We decided that I will buy his ring and he will buy mine. We each get to pick them out anyway. Those are gifts enough for us.

Splurging on the honeymoon and decided to do nice 1 year anniversary gifts.  Now, I still luck though since my birthday is the day before the wedding!
