I couldn't help but notice that there are a quite a few other knotties that have the same date as me and my FI:) congrats ladies! What colors has everyone picked out?

Well I'm 7-21-12 but I'll still answer

We haven't decided OFFICIALLY but we know for sure that purple will be one of the colors. We were thinking dark purple and burnt orange but I told my FSIL about that idea and needless to say she HATED it. I know that it's my wedding and it shouldn't matter what everyone else thinks but she will just not let it go. She keeps saying, "I just don't want you to do something you'll regret." Well if I thought I was going to regret it I wouldn't have suggested those colors!

So then we were thinking Purple and Platinum. Still not completely sure yet though.

I am one of the many 7-14-12 date twins.

FI and I had preveiously planned on going with purple, platinum and cream but have since switched it to royal blue (or to be more specific, horizon blue according to David's Bridal), platinum, and cream.

Yeah why is your FSIL so hung up about it?? I mean does she have some sort of personal issue with those colors lol? Purple and burnt orange is a beautiful combo. Tell her she's nuts ;-) Or maybe she hasn't seem them paired together before and can't get a good mental visual... show her some examples, maybe she'll lighten up. Not that it's her decision but..

I'm also a 7-21-12 bride myself and i'm going with mermaid, purples and pink together with platinum accents. Sounds crazy but I have some pics in my planning bio just in case.

Btw.. seems that purple is a popular color this year huh..

Thanks girls

We really like purple and orange but she's just one of those people who say really rude things in a really nice way and I don't want to hear comments like that for the next 15 months. We went wedding dress shopping together and I told her I really liked mermaid style dresses and she told me that I was 'too hippy' to wear a dress like that. Well thanks, honey.

We're not planning on doing STDs, invites, or BM dresses any time soon so thankfully, I think we have a while to figure it out.

@ meagan I personally think that the colors you picked would look nice together. I know that she is your FSIL but its your wedding so its up to what you and your FI choose. Wow I was surprised with all of the comments that were on my post. I didnt think that there was gonna be that many. Whats really funny is as I was reading everyones the common color is purple. Which is really funny because we chose to do the color lapis(a darker purple) and ivory or white.

My date was 07/14/12, but we changed it to 07/13/12 because our venue was booked that day AND it ended up being cheaper for a Friday anyway.

Our colors are teal blue, chartreuse, and golden yellow.

@meagan, there's a way to pull off orange and purple and make it look amazing. It's a summer wedding, and bright colors=summer, lol. Platinum and purple sound good, too, but make sure it's what you want, not what you FSIL wants. You're marrying her brother, not her. :P

Our date is also 7-14-12, right in the middle of summer! I want something that will be colorful and summery. I really like the colors purple and orange too, they were the two colors I wanted at first, but both of my sisters had purple as their colors and a wedding we went to recently was purple also so I decided I wanted to do something a little different. Now, we're thinking orange (melon) and hot pink (or anything but a really light pink). Then again, we haven't looked at bridesmaids dresses yet or anything, so it could always change.

Whaaat?? If this were me, I would probably stop including her in anything haha! :-p Do you two usually get along well? Besides the wedding related stuff I mean. I feel for you girl, dealing with people who say uninvited, inappropriate comments all the time just to "help out" is really tough. Hang in there! :)

I really like orange and hot pink too, kaglade. There's a lot of great inspiration boards out there with that color scheme.

Well she lives in Denver and I live in San Francisco, so we really don't see each other very often. She was visiting this past weekend so I thought it would be great to try and include her with wedding stuff, it just didn't go exactly like I planned. We don't really get along that well, but I'm really trying because they're a close family. I think she's just too self-absorbed to realize she hurts my feelings sometimes.

Thanks, mrsbunyip. I do really like both ideas and I'm not afraid to choose something I love even if it upsets others. I just need to remember that statement everytime I hear something negative from someone else, lol.

Date twin!!! We haven't decided exact colors yet, but blue and green is our jumping off point. I was all about using peacock feathers as an accent, but now I'm on the fence about it. So we could end up with navy and grass green or sapphire blue and emerald...we'll see where the wind takes us!

Also, little miss hippy color naysayer needs to realize YOU are getting married, not her. Hang in there. It's a tough situation when that person is going to be part of the family.

Purple and orange can look FAB and with it being a summer wedding and all, it can look fresh and pretty much amazing!!!

I'm a bit late getting into this but wanted to share! We're 7/7/12 btw and we're doing shades of lighter purple, like lilac and lavender. I'm not planning on having another color other than ivory mixed in.

And I second the purple and burnt orange! I've never seen that done but I think it'd be really pretty and unique. I keep thinking of a sunset when I hear these colors. I'm not sure why, but I think it's definitely appropriate for a summer wedding!
