The situation - the wedding is in SK, Canada, and FI and I live in TX, USA. I will be moving down to TX with him right after the wedding, we are driving down with very little room in our vehicle, and can't afford to rent a moving van. Erego, if we get a lot of physical presents at the wedding, we won't be able to get them down to TX for about a year or more after the wedding, which is obviously less than ideal.
Knotties originally suggested going with an online registry, so that guests can purchase items online and have them shipped to our house, since "asking for cash is rude". So we went with MyRegistry.Com, but now I am starting to panic that the guests won't take the hint to ship the items to our place in TX.
Our shipping address is entered in MR, and we have written it on the wedding website ("We are registered at so and so, our password is such and such, our address in TX is this and that")
For those of you who have done/are doing online registries, or are familiar with them - do the gifts commonly show up at the reception, or at your house? I just need a little bit of reassurance that I'm not going to be making multiple trips from TX to Canada and back just to get my wedding gifts!
