Texas-Dallas and Ft. Worth

Oh the venue... the conversation about golf.

If you remember the issues we were having with the venue, do you remember the issue of the comp'd golf?

Well, FI said "no way, make them stick to their original promise of me and best man comp'd".  So, this the exchange today... and it's freakin' irritating.

ME:
I did confirm with Andrew that when we originally booked, Amy {original coordinator} told him that he and his best man were comp'd. Has that since changed?

Her:
I will need to check with the GM and get back with you.  Our policy is to comp the bride and/or groom, and offer a discounted rate to the remaining party.  The discounted rate that has been offered to Andrew’s party is significant, as Sunday morning is prime time for golf. I will be back in touch after speaking with the GM.

ME:
I understand, I'm just giving you the info we were given at the time of booking.  To be fair, our wedding price is significant too for us.  It was just a perk that was important to Andrew.

I'm trying to be nice but WOW.  I wish that I could just cancel them completely... I feel completely invaluable as a customer that is having a large reception there.

UGH.

/end rant

Sorry guys.

PS - I know this comes off in a poor light.

I know it looks like I want something for nothing because we're having the wedding there.  It's not about that for me, it's about getting what we were promise.

I felt like I needed to clarify that.

That's what I'm thinking... that's what keeps me sane.

I just can't stand when people go back on what they promise. I can't stand it.

#1 advice to EVERYONE.  Get it in writing and you won't be dealing with this.

Geez.... it isn't like it really costs them anything, at all, to let him golf too.   They can share a cart.  It won't cost them any more wear and tear on the cart or the course.

Ugh.   If they actually tell you the BM can't golf... I'd say fine then, I will!   Ha... and then have BM show up in your place.

  • edited December 2011
I am so sorry you are dealing with this.  I dont think its wanting something for nothing, you were promised something and it was a factor in why you booked so you should get it.  Also, based on all the other complications they should be jumping at this opportunity to comp a few dollars and regain their integrity!

That's the part that gets me!

"The bride and/or the groom"... so they're willing to comp 2 rounds if I golf?  But not if someone else does?  MAKES NO SENSE.

Seriously... if they don't know that you are the mod on the Knot you should tell them... I'll bet they change their tune.  :)

I would be so beyond frustrated.  I would be pissed and stressed and tired.  I get really b*tchy at that point, too.  So, she would have already heard an earful from me regarding their customer service and honoring their word.  I wish you could switch venues and tell them tough noodles!

Your not asking something for nothing. You are just asking them what they promised!! Huge difference! I hhope it works out for you! I would be more than annoyed!

This has SO been at the back of my mind.  It should would suck if every new bride that visits TK (and the vendor sticky), knew how horrible of a venue they are.

It's a stupid policy anyway: Bride and/or Groom.  Yes, because the morning of your wedding you want to out playing golf with your fiance.  Sheesh.

I normally would... I am just so worried that if I start to yell or get b*tchy, more "promises" will fall through.  I'm trying my hardest to just roll with their punches but GOODNESS, they've got me so beat down.

I know how frustrating this is.  I had issues with my venue too--the biggest being their promise that the terrace would be uncovered for our ceremony and then they went back on it.  I went ballistic that day let me tell ya.

But good for you for sticking to your guns.

That's what gets me too. Did you say you have the original promise in writing still? I'm really just trying to understand how giving the free round ot both your FI and his BM is really going to hurt them that bad financially. Any smart person with any customer service skills whatsoever would realize that the bad reputation they are creating for themselves will cost them more financially in the long run.

No, I don't have it in writing, which is why I wanted to confirm it with Andrew too before I went to the venue.

That's what gets me I guess.  It's just poor business.

That really sucks Brianna!  I agree with the writing part, there were several things that the old coordinator promised us when we booked that I had to call, and then forward the emails to the new one in order to get those promises.

One more round of golf is not gonna kill them, they need to just give it up and try to make the bride and groom happy with 5 days to go.

Sadly, I will most certainly be the one to write this review.  I have actually made a list of everything from day 1 that they've done.  I will post it here, weddingwire.com, yelp, yahoo, and send it to their GM.

This sucks so bad, and I feel for you and commend you on your diplomacy.

I am not sure who you are dealing with, who it is that is "checking" with the GM, but at this point, it may not be such a bad idea to go straight to the GM if you have not already.  Perhaps talking to him/her and explaining what you were promised, what you are spending, and how you have been pushed and pulled in various directions of late, that it would be the least that his company could do for your FI and his BM.  Not that they may care, but they have to know that wedding venues live and die by recommendations and word-of mouth.  Perhaps you could even ever so nicely, toss that in there.  In a subtly, southern, not quite, but almost threatening way.

I wish you the best and have the happiest of wedding days!!!

Lame, I hate to say it, but I would totally pull that mod card out at some point.
