returns at Target and Bed, Bath and Beyond

The wedding is over and I've finally gotten done going through all of our gifts.  Can anyone enlighten me on if Target and BBB will take returns off our registry without the gift receipts?  I asked while I was in Target the other day and I was told that I would need to find the item on the "guest purchase log" but could still return it that way without a gift receipt.  Well I printed off the guest purchase log from the kiosk, but the items I'm looking to return aren't on it because the people buying them obviously did not tell them it was off a registry when they checked out.  And as for BBB, I've searched their website and they seem to have a pretty good return policy, but I still wasn't clear on if the gift receipts were necessary or not.  Thanks everyone!

  • I didn't have receipts for BBB so if you can't return at Target and they sell it at BBB, return it there.  Oh, if you don't have a receipt for BBB they return it at the current price.

  • I returned several things to Target without a gift receipt. They were fine with it as long as I took store credit.

  • We returned stuff both from the registry and not on the registry at BBB without a receipt.  They were great about it!  I'm so glad we registered there!

Our local Target is horrible about returns.  They won't let you return anything without a receipt, not even for store credit.  Very annoying.
  • I had no problems making returns at BB&B without a gift receipt, they were great.

  • You can sign onto your own target registry and mark the item as purchased.  Then take it back to the store with the gift registry in hand.
