How to ask the bridesmaids

HI Everyone!

Congratulations to everyone on their upcoming nuptuals. I am currently living 4.5 hour drive from all the girls I want to ask to be my bridesmaids. Is it acceptable to call them to ask them to be my bridesmaids. We have all been friends forever the girls I want to ask.

I think it's ok to call. I had to call 2 of my bridesmaids.

I think that's preferable to some big production.

Ditto. I asked five of my bridesmaids in person, but the other lives a couple thousand miles away. I asked her over the phone.

Yes--I called all but one of mine b/c we are in different states. If you are planning on seeing them soon, you might hold off until you see them in person, but otherwise, calling is fine. They'll understand.
