The Adolphus

Does anyone have any input on The Adolphus Hotel?? We're looking at booking the venue for our ceremony and reception on New Years Day.
Also, Any input on other great sites for ceremony and reception in Dallas would be appreciated :).

Thanks!!

I went to a wedding there last month and thought it was very nice.  The couple had a small guest list (maybe 50?) and they had the ceremony and reception right next door to each other.  The 2 rooms were split by a room divider, as opposed to having the room turned over during the cocktail hour, even though they had one.  I saw a lot of staff attending to the bride and the family in general, so it seemed like they were very involved.  She also planned her wedding from Chicago and she never made any comments about being stressed or nervous about the venue.

The only thing that I didn't like was the parking situation.  The guests have to pull into a small driveway area that is right in front of the lobby, and drop their car off for the valet.  So there is no general garage parking that I saw.  The driveway area doesn't hold a lot of cars in general, so I can imagine that it might get backed up if you have a large guest list.  There were some parking lots available but I didn't want to walk and they were more expensive than the valet was, so that's what we used.

I can't comment on the food or anything else beyond the ceremony since we didn't stay for the reception, but I liked it overall.  The hotel is very ornate, so if you like that style, go for it.

We stayed there for our wedding night and were completley taken care of. It was a great experience.

I've had a few work conferences there and have been equally satisfied with the service and the food. It is a very elegant hotel. I would definitely consider it, especially that time of year. Downtown is really pretty!

I was just there for a wedding last weekend. It was great! Beautiful room, great food, I would definitely recommend it. The valet seemed well prepared for the large group (there were probably 250 or so guests), so I wouldn't worry too much about that. But I have experienced valet issues there before.

This wedding was buffet-style. They had a carving station with some sort of beef for these cute sandwiches (i don't eat beef so I can't really tell you what it was like). They had these mashed potatoes in individual dishes with all of the fixings. A pasta station with tortellini and cream sauce (my favorite) and these Caesar/house salads in these cool square, tall containers (very cool). I hope my very random description helps! Everyone commented on how good the food was.
