Moms and Maids

What do you get your mom when.....

you don't know what to get your mom!!!

AAAAAAAH, help, I really need ideas.  She doesn't wear jewelry or have any interest in clothing, accessories, purses, hair, makeup or nails.

She gardens.  But what do gardeners like?  Tools seems, well, lame.  Plants are out of season for me here in Michigan.

Anybody have suggestions?

What did you get her for Christmas?
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

a huge gift basket of her favorite wine's, cheese, crackers, tea, coffee.  i also made a ton of homemade specialty foods like granola, trail mix, chocolate covered pretzels.

she just so rarely uses actual items....i really want to give her something she'll enjoy!!!!  i appreciate all she's done so far and want it to be special.

What about a flower/bulb of the month type thing?  What about a spa day?

You could take her out for a day and do things she likes. You could find a cute or nice figurine to put in one of her gardens along with some gardening gloves or tools. You could also make a stepping stone for her garden. There are a bunch of different kits out there and some are a little cheesy. If you go to a gardening store or a craft store, the employees there may have an idea on how you could DIY a noncheesy one.

A set of high quality ergonomic garden tools with a tote to carry them would be nice (definitely not lame) or a gift card for her favorite garden center. The stepping stone is a great idea, too.

What about those setups for starting seedlings before it's warm enough to sow seeds.  You can get pretty elaborate ones with lamps that simulate sunlight.  That way she could start her gardening early.

You could go more or less expensive than this:

Would she use a gift card to her favorite plant nursery?  Maybe tuck it inside a new pair of gloves or tie it to a new spade for presentation.  Or something for her garden that you know she wants - a park bench, bird feeder, decorative pots, etc.

these are divine suggestions!  i have not the slightest green thumb (i was going to say i have a brown thumb insinuating that i kill plants but thought that could be misconstrued hahaha!) and didn't even know where to start.

thanks ladies, i will be using these!

My mom sounds a little like yours.  She received a 1-year subscription to a gardening magazine (Birds and Blooms) and she would never have gotten that for herself, but she will admit that she looked forward to that magazine coming every month.  Think about things she would like but would NEVER buy for herself.  :)
