Dresses for moms

Do both the mother of the bride and the mother of the groom have to wear similar dresses? Both long, both short, similar styles, colors, materials, etc.?

Nope, it doesn't matter if one wears a long dress and one wears a short dress.

My Mom wore a knee length dress while MIL wore a slightly longer dress. Ironically, they both wore dresses that were a shade of one of our wedding colors, which looked quite nice. I wasn't expecting that.

I don't think they need to match, or even coordinate.  There will be very few(if any) pictures of the mothers together, and the ones where they are together, no one will be comparing their dresses.  My mom is expecting to purchase a beige or dark red floor length dress or a pantsuit, and my FMIL has said she found a brown tea length dress she loves.

I don't have a single picture of the mothers with each other, or with the entire WP.  Our one full family shot includes my mom and my three siblings who were all attendants, but it looks as coordinated as any other family shot we've ever taken.  There would have been no point in having the mothers try to match each other or the WP.

This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

Nope! They can wear whatever they'd like.

Whatever makes them feel beautiful and comfortable.  Your job is to love whatever that is!
