Moms and Maids

Is it my place?

I recently set a date to go BM dress shopping with my maids, and I invited along my FMIL.  She said she'd love to go, and was super excited.  One of my maids is FMIL's son's babymomma (it was the quickest way to describe her, sorry).  When I asked her if she could make it, she responded, "yes!  your FMIL already agreed to babysit, so I'm all set, yay, so excited!!"

I was thinking I would just let them figure this out when the time comes, as it's really none of my business, but FI thinks I should call FMIL (technically his stepmom), and bring it to her attention.  Agggh.. what would you do?

I wouldn't say anything.  What would you be bringing to her attention?  That she already agreed to babysit, I'm sure she knows that.  She probably just realized that its more important for the BM to be there during the BM dress shopping.  If your FI is so concerned, why doesn't he offer to babysit so both women can go with you?

Maybe your FMIL will take along the grandkid while your BM try on dresses.  I don't think you need to call but I don't think it would hurt either.  Just be open and flexible.  If FMIL doesn't go, it's not the end of the world.

It would be really inappropriate to say anything.  I'm sure she was trying to help you out by making one of your BMs available to come with.  Look at it that way, appreciate her for helping out, and say nothing.  You'll come across as very immature.

I agree with brooke - saying anything is a bad idea, and she probably thought the bridesmaid's presence was more important than hers. I would have been a little confused too, but I doubt it was malicious.

I wouldn't say anything.  That's their situation to figure out.

I wouldn't say anything either.  They're adults and perfectly capable of managing their commitments without helpful reminders.

You might see if FI can babysit instead.  It is his family.

My FMIL was all set to babysit her grandkids so that FI's sister could come shopping with me, but FI stepped up so that both women could go.  It worked out great.

I wouldn't touch this. It doesn't really involve you anyway. They can figure out this scheduling conflict on their own.
