Moms and Maids

When to start looking at DW locations?

I was wanting to get a mom's perspective regarding a DW.  DD and FI want to have a DW in about two years.  They like the idea of a beach wedding and think they want it in Florida.  We have never been to a DW and am clueless. When should we start trying to narrow it down and book?  Didn't see anything about this on DW board.  Thanks!!

Most places and vendors don't book more than a year in advance, so you might want to start preliminary research now. Look online, lurk on your local board (Florida boards) and then really get serious about physically checking out venues maybe 1.5 years out.

It's never too early to start looking and narrowing things down.  When I was thinking DW, some of the REALLY popular places were booked 2+ years out.  You don't want to wait too long to make a decision, because I think the norm is for venues and vendors to be booked about a year in advance.

Is it what "you" want?  Or what "they" want?  Just asking....
My baby girl is a married woman...and now my baby girl HAS a baby girl. Time unfolds in such an amazing way. I've been blessed!

    Thank you for the information!!

Muffin's Mom, it is what they want.  I don't mean that snarky or anything.  They have been involved in three weddings, the third being yesterday, and they both feel it is a nightmare.  There is another one coming up in May and I think it might tip the scale more towards DW.

I see pros and cons to both and like I said, never been to and not sure when to check into.
