Gifts for parents of the bride and groom

I'm having trouble figuring out what to get for my mom. What is a typical or appropriate gift for the mother of the bride? I have a step-mother who I want to include as well. Also, am I supposed to get my future mother-in-law a gift, too? Can I get all three of them the same gift? And what about my dad?! I want to follow the rules of ettiquete while still getting them meaningful gifts that don't break the bank. Advice please!

My cousin just wrote her parents each a letter. My Uncle said it was the best gift he has ever received and he has it framed in his office.

I was planning on doing that for each of my parents and then we will be getting each of our parents nice leather bound albums once our photos come out (those can range from $50- several hundred dollars).

I will likely get a very small gift for each of my parents for the day of- embroidered handkerchiefs.

We're giving both sets of parents a three-hole picture frame for the wall. Top hole will be a picture of child with parents when child was young. Second hole picture of child with parents at college age, and third hole will be blank - an empty spot for a picture from the actual wedding. We saw a friend do this for her parents and it was a HUGE hit.

I also got a seperate gift for each parent from me - an embroidered handkerchief with a personal message. It's small, but it's something that's really personal.
