You know their interest better then us. What are their favorite hobbies and activities? Take out the mindset of "WP or BM" and just think personal gift to show your appreciation. So whatever interest each girl has shop for that area be it a gift card to their favorite store (or a store in their interest) or shop specifically for something that they would love because it fits their personality and interests (ex. my friend is a runner and I bought her Nike Drifit Running Gloves for her winter running).

And your definitely correct on getting them something else because wedding jewelry is technically not a gift because you are requiring them to wear it.

Just went to a wedding where all the bridesmaids recieved coach wristlets. They are not as expensive as one may think and they bridesmaids loved them.

Shop for them like you would if it was their birthday or Christmas. What are their hobbies, interests? Go from there.

I bought my girls all a pair of earrings to wear for the wedidng as well as 1 or 2 more items that suited them personally. For example, I got one of my BM's a Vera Bradley wristlet bc she loves them and doesn't carry a purse hardly at all.

<div>I did this too - obviously have yet to give them to the ladies, but I figured it's something they would never buy themselves (which is what I always look for in a gift).  At the outlet store they were about $30-$40 a piece.  And they have a ton of different styles so I chose one to suit everyone's taste.  I know some people think this is overdone, but I promise that none of my BMs have ever even had a wristlet, let alone received one as a gift.</div><div>
</div><div>It's tough to find stuff, but I would say that if you're going to get them jewelry, even if it is for the wedding day, go with pearls.  Every girl needs a pair.  </div><div>
</div><div>If not, there's tons of other cute things out there - stationery, gift cards, wine, sentimental stuff.  I have to admit I abandoned the "shop like it's their bday" rule and did get them all the same thing because some people would have received the best present ever and some girls I only see every few months so I had no idea what to get them.</div><div>
</div><div>The main things I would say to avoid are most of the personalized, monogrammed things like in the Knot shop.  Cosmetic bags, totes, robes tend to be things no one needs.  And no one wants personalized after a certain age.  </div>

3 of my 4 BMs are Moms, and the other is a student and aspiring teacher- I am getting everyone a personalized tote from Thirty-one (mythirtyone.com). They are super cute and reasonably inexpensive. I will fill them with cute accessories and other items (maybe a DVD, flip flops for the reception).

Try etsy.com. They have nice jewelry for a reasonable price and you can often chat with the vendors and have them custom make something for you to suit your BMs style. HTH!

The last wedding I was in the bride got us a white/clear beaded jewerly set to wear to the wedding and then one in each person's favorite color.  It wasn't anything expensive but it was cute  and thoughtful.

The best gift I got for being a BM/MOH was a travel bag for toiletries with our initals sewed into it.  I USE IT ALL THE TIME and it was filled with shampoos etc.  They were black with our intials in our favorite colors.

I have gotten everything from gift cards to a fifth of tequila as a bridesmaid gift. As long as you make the gift personalized to each of your maids, they will appreciate it.

I have gotten all sorts of different gifts as well.  My least favorite: Jewelry to wear for the wedding that I didn't like at all (And that was my only gift!).  Favorite gifts: A photo album to put pictures of the day in.  A very very nice one with their wedding date engraved into the front.  (I am VERY close friends with both the bride and groom and have been for sometime-the groom since we were 3 and bride since 7th grade-we are now in our mid 20's and still very close)  Lastly a gift card to target.  I love the "I don't know what to buy you so rather than guess, get your own damn gift" approach.
