Pippa Replica BM Dress

Hey Ladies,

I need a bit of help...  I am looking for a replica of the Pippa Middleton BM dress she wore to the royal wedding, the white one (although I want it in blue).  I know that Jim Hjelm does a version of it but I'm wondering if there are any other designers or other places you might have seen it.  Thanks for the help ladies!!!

I hope all of your BM are built just like Pippa.  That dress is not forgiving.  Good luck in your search.

Two have tried on the pippa dress through Jim Hjelm and looked fabulous in it!

I would post this on the attire and accessory board...they are pretty good with these questions.

I know you said two have tried it on but I would make sure everyone of your BMs try it on to see if they are comfortable in it.  Like PP said, that dress is not forgiving and will show every lump and bump on a persons body...just make sure they all love the dress before commiting to it.

I know... one of them is pregnant and is due 5.5 months before the wedding so it's really difficult because she's already showing, the other has no butt and has the same body as one of the other girls so I know it'll look good on her as well.

I hate to say it because I want all of them to love it and be comfortable but there's always hardcore spanx that you can wear to hold stuff in for yourself and smooth out the bumps worse comes to worse.  I only have 4 girls also.

    O.o Yes b/c hardcore spanx = comfort.

I would also consider some other dresses. Plus since it is a specific and rather well known dress the only other designers you will find making that dress are likely knock offs.

You will be able to see spanx under a dress like that.  Just an FYI.

I ordered an Eliza J Dress with cap sleeves and lace trim from Macy's for (link) my convalidation ceremony.  It's definitely on the darker side of navy, but it's very close to Pippa's style.  I'll need it hemmed (it doesn't come in petite) but it's comfortable and fits well without being overly tight.

    Edited to fix link.

<div>Agreed, and that would be an interesting look ;)</div><div>
</div><div>It is "your day", however  I  would really really really make sure that the dress is flattering for all of your BMs.  The last thing I would want is to make my BMs pay for a dress that 1. Is uncomfortable for them body wise  and 2. Makes them a spectacle because it really doesn't look good.  I want people to talk about me on my wedding day, not how unforgiving the dresses on the BMs were.</div>

I agree with all of you.  The problem is that you're thinking of the actual Pippa dress which silhouette wise is different than the Jim Hjelm one.  The JH one is much more forgiving because it's looser and more a line than a mermaid/trumpet.  It doesn't hug the body... maybe I should have prefaced with that.

The problem is that because one of my BM's are pregnant and due in March, it'll be hard to pick any dress right now based on that.  And yes you can wear spanx under the JH pippa dress, it's much looser on the body.  It also works if you get a bigger size because it drapes nicely.

My 3rd BM is trying it on this weekend. We shall see if it works.  Worse comes to worse, maybe the one who's pregnant can get one made that looks exactly like the one the others order but is looser around the middle so she can be more comfortable.

I don't know what the JH dress is made of but if it's the same (or similar) "nightgown" material then it won't matter if it's a size bigger.  It's the fabric not the silhouette that's unforgiving.

It's chiffon... chiffon is forgiving for everyone.  I have three chiffon dresses, one of which a friend who is significantly heavier than me was able to fit into and i'm a size 6/8 in the dresses.  Plus like I said, the original gown is very form fitted, this one is more flowy and flares out from the hips while the original flares out from below the knee.

I hate to say it but I've been put on terrible dresses as a BM and I'm not a fat/chunky or overweight person and they were unflattering so in all honesty, I think the dress will work the way it's sewn on all the girls, and hopefully it'll serve as a motivation for my friend that's pregnant.  I fell in love with it and if my 3rd BM looks as good as the other two then it's going to be the BM dress for my wedding...

and no you won't be able to see spanx because it's not form fitting... and it's layered with i think three layers and my friend who is pregnant was the one who said she could wear spanx under it.

what I was looking for in this forum was help finding other dresses like it so that I can compare prices because I don't want the girls spending a ton.  I do appreciate all the feedback. But I also feel like I'm being criticized for my decision.

For clarification, the pregnant friend will be 3 1/2 months pregnant at the time of your wedding? And the plan is for her to wear spanx?  Seriously?  It's a gorgeous dress, and if I thought I could pull it off, believe me, I would wear it everyday, grocery shopping, to work, wherever.  I just think this is going to be a difficult look to do, so lots of good luck to you.

No one is criticizing you.  We're just trying to point out things that you may not have really thought of.  Some people will try to sugar coat things while others will be blunt and to the point.  It's an open forum so anyone can post what they want as long as it's in the TOS agreement so take what you want from the people that post.  Good luck with the rest of your wedding planning.

It seems to me that you already made your decision on the BM dress so there is just no point in saying anything more about it.

As for your pregnant BM...I am sure they can alter any dress to fit her correctly and (of course it depends on her comfort level) but pregnant women can wear form fitting dresses and still look gorgeous.  However, if she is not comfortable in the choosen dress then you are going to have to compromise with her and let her find something in the same color and fabric that she does feel comfortable with.  Finally, most bridal stores are able to estimate the size a pregnant women should order to be able to fit in it by the wedding day.

Minor threadjack: Is it ok to wear spanx when you are pregnant? I have never been pregnant, so I would have no idea, but I wouldn't want to wear spanx while pregnant. (not that anyone likes to wear them to begin with)

She will be 5.5 months postpartum, if I read that correctly. OP, shame on you for thinking your friend will need motivation. If anyone asked me to wear that dress 5.5 months after giving birth, I would not have. Pregnancy weight is gained over 10 months, and doesn't just fall off. It's really difficult dealing with all the body changes and if I knew one of my friends was saying such things about me, I doubt they would remain a close friend much longer.

She's currently pregnant and will be giving birth before the 1st of April, her due date is march 23rd.... So she will be post pregnancy 5 months. And it's not the same dress! It's based off that dress... That dress is form fitting, this one is not, it's a-line and an empire waist.

Okay ladies... I'm done with this.  You have no right to judge me, criticize my decisions or judge my friendships.  The original post was asking about places or websites where the replica dress is.  Not to ask about my bridesmaids and criticize me and make comments when you don't know my situation.

And as for my friend, who is also one of my maids of honor, and I love her to peices, her husband told me that I was the only one , with her family included, who actually cared about her pregnancy so much to get her excited other htan her husband.  And she's gaining weight at an alarming rate which isn't healthy so I'm actually looking out for her and she knows how I feel.  So why don't you all get off my back because you don't know anything about my wedding, my life, my friendships or anything else in my life and just stick to the actual question at hand.... I love the forums and I love the people on the forums but there's no reason to assume things about someone when there was nothing said with content.  I simply asked for websites and places... not for everyone to tear apart my relationships and my wedding. And I don't appreciate the responses I've gotten because they're hurtful
