Thank You's

Thank you cards...

Since my showers (work and family) are so close to our wedding, should we wait and send thank you cards out all together, after the wedding? Or do one set after the showers, and then one set after the wedding?

Obviously the same people will be at the wedding, as the shower. FI thinks we need to do thank you cards this weekend for anything I get at my showers. I was just curious. Seems easier to me to wait and just do one thank you card after the wedding, but I don't want to be rude if that's not proper etiquette.

TIA!

    I did separate TY cards.

Yeah, I think the more I ponder it, the more I realize that's probably the proper thing to do.

I'm just trying to make things easier, haha ;)

     Thanks for the feedback!

    Ditto on Separate.

There was only one person who gave something for both the shower and wedding so there weren't a lot of duplicates.

Doing them now, may mean less work later.

I'm trying to send TY's as the gifts come in... that way it is not as daunting of a task, people know we got the gift (some are being mailed), and we send them out quickly.  Gifts sit in my dining room until I write the TY, then I get to find a place for them in the house.  :)

I have a shower (party) out of town tomorrow evening, so I"m going to finish up TY's tonight for all the gifts I got this week.

I will say, it seems some people wait SO long to write TY's.  I went to a few weddings in April/May and I've only received one TY.  I just don't want it to drag on

Lots of random thoughts there on TY notes.  Hope it makes sense.

Proper etiquette says you send TYs immediately--ones for your shower, and separate ones for wedding gifts.

Although I'm no one to talk because I waited for my photos to come in so I could send photo TY cards.  But I did send my shower ones right away.

We've already received 2 wedding gifts in the mail. I guess I feel weird sending out our wedding thank you's before the wedding.

Oh well...I guess I should send those out.

I do agree with the shower TY's though. I will get on that, Sunday. FI already offered to help :)

I am so anal retentive about thank you cards.  I never realized how important they were until *I* didn't get them!

I have had two showers and had all thank you notes written and mailed by the Wednesday following the shower.  It's daunting, but I hope that the recipient appreciates the gesture since I appreciate their gifts!  :)

Random vent.  I organized a group gift for a wedding last year.  We purchased nearly every single item on the recipient's registry (to the tune of several hundreds of dollars spent) and not ONE PERSON received a thank you note.  WTF?

<div>This is me, too.  Exactly.  May not be as quick as I would like, but I really want photo TYs.   Shower TYs went out immediately.  </div>
