Hair then makeup/ makeup then hair

I'm doing my own makeup and going to salon for my hair. Should I already have my makeup done when I go to get my hair done?

Re: Hair then makeup/ makeup then hair

  • I think either way is fine. For me, my hair stylist was putting my veil on (she did my makeup too). We did make-up first because we didn't want to accidentally get any make-up on the veil once it was on. If you're not having a veil though, there isn't really a reason to put your make-up on first, and it would be fresher if you waited longer to put it on.

  • I did the base of my makeup (foundation, eyeshadow, ect) before putting the dress on at the venue, then after I had my dress on, I put on the mascara, eyeliner and lipstick.  I didn't want any of those three things to end up on my dress or veil- the veil was the last thing to go on.
  • I think in the case of DIY, you should probably do your makeup tirst.  You might want to ask the salon what they think--you definitely don't want hairspray on your face.

  • I'd say just wash and moisturize your face before the salon since that will be difficult to do once your hair is up.
