Make-up trial and previously used make-up?

I'm not crazy about the idea of using make-up that has been used on someone else. For my make-up for the wedding, I'm happy to purchase the cosmetics that the MUA will use, but what happens in my trial? How can I buy what she'll be using when, at the trial, we won't yet know what it will be?

What did you do? Advice?

  • I never thought to worry about this.  All of the applicators your MUA should use are disposable (except brushes) and sanitary, so there shouldn't really be an issue with the makeup itself.  Have you talked to your MUA about your concerns regarding the makeup?

  • Have you ever had your makeup done at a counter at a department store?  Because, for me at least, they will often test 2-3 products before deciding what works best with my skin.  That being said, how can you possibly know what to even buy without testing it?

Like PP said, MUA usually use disposable tools so there is no contamination of the product.  I would ask your MUA this if it's such a concern, but buying something before you even know what's best seems like a bad idea.
  • Like others have said, you will need to test them out before buying, and by testing, you are using a used product. So, it's defeating the purpose. Your MUA will use disposable applicators and her tools are always sanitized.
  • I wouldn't worry about it.  Important things like lip balm, mascara, etc are used with disposable applicators.  Brushes and tools are always sanitized.
