Do colors HAVE to be seasonal??

I was initially planning to get married in the summer, and when that was the case my fiance & I had picked orange as one of our colors.  Well, now the wedding is going to be in the winter, & I told my fiance we would have to change our color choices.  Well surprisingly, this is apparently something he actually cares about.  I like orange as one of our colors still, but would it be weird to have during the winter?  Would you think it was weird if you went to a winter wedding at which orange was a color??  I just don't know!

No, your colors don't have to coordinate with the season. You should have orange if it means a lot to you.

Of course they don't need to be seasonal Orange is a fall color not a summer or winter color anyway. It is more winter then summer in my mind at least

Absolutely not! There are so many ways to utilize colors, that there's no reason to stick to "seasonal" colors.

We got married in June and our colors were black, white, and red. Pick the colors you want!

I don't think it would be weird, and I would never really expect someone to choose colors based on the season. I thought people usually chose their favorite colors, regardless. I am having a fall wedding, but stayed away from fall colors on purpose, because I feel they are just too overdone in everything you see in the fall. I did try to coordinate my colors with my setting, though. We are getting married in a park that is made of red rocks, so I wanted something that wouldn't clash with that.

Your orange & other colors winter wedding will balance out my eggplant, silver & white wedding in november! What shade of orange are you thinking of? Pumpkin pie or raw pumpkin or more citrusy or sherbety? If you go with orange sherbet you could have pushups ice cream treats. If you go pumpkiny you could do mini tarts or roasted squash or soup. If you go citrusy you could go with mimosas or marmalades.

I had this concern too with my fall wedding.  I wanted blue and green as my main colors, but those seemed summery -- so I chose jewel-toned shades, which seemed a little more fitting for the season, and added a deep pink accent. For your winter wedding, if you're doing a lighter, softer orange, you might consider matching it up with a plum or deep raspberry shade, with a silver accent.  That would give you a slightly more winter-y feel, and it would be gorgeous!  Good luck!

HAVE THE COLORS YOU WANT!!!! I always wanted to get married in the summer and already had my colors picked out. Then we switched our date to Sept 26 which is technically the fall. I had no interest in changing the colors I had always imagined though. We are doing a pistachio green, and baby blue, with accents of orange. You're the BRIDE, you get to choose the colors YOU like!

It's all about you. Who cares if the seasons don't match. You do what makes you happy regardless

I don't think it's a problem at all, in fact it is one of the accent colors for my January wedding. I did not want to have the typical red and green Christmas or ice blue winter wedding so I picked fall colors instead - dark pink, purple, orange. You can pick whichever colors you and your fiance like and base them on your theme more so than the season.

By all means, choose whatever colors you want. I am getting married in December and orange is my favorite color and blue is my fiance's, so we are doing both of those. Have fun with it!

Hello! Im Leah - long time lurker - but I saw this post and then saw this pic! (with this caption) Coral roses bundled in square vases topped half of the tables. The couple stenciled the table numbers on pieces of birch bark and used frosted votives to echo the wintry scene outside.haha so orange totally works!

You can use whatever colors you want. I have a friend who was set on having red and gold, but her family raised a ruckus because the wedding was held in April. She switched to ice-lavender (like a silvery bluish purple I guess) and a light periwinkle. She didn't mind - the important thing is the marriage, not the wedding colors anyway - but it always struck me as odd that this sort of thing is seen by some as soooooo important. It's not. Just do what you like. We aren't even having 'wedding colors' - it's a party to celebrate a marriage and as such won't be decorated like a 'wedding'...it'll be a party. No more, no less.

This is not too early to figure out that if the question is, "Do we have to...?", the answer is always no.  You have to have a couple.  In most states, you have to have an officiant.  You have to have a marriage license.  That is all you have to do.  Beyond that, do what you like.

You pick what ever colors you want! Our wedding is in October and our colors are pink and black (took lots of convincing for FI to go for it) but it is absolutely not fall colors..but its your wedding. you do whatever you want!
