Something else for my Fiance's Dad to host other than Rehearsal Dinner?

My fiance's parents are divorced, over 20 years. Haven't spoken since the kids were old enough to work out visitation without the parents' involvement.

With that said, his mom lives real close to us, and is emotionally much more involved in the process and his (and my) lives. His mother has reserved the rehearsal dinner. Since she only has boys this is her big deal.

Then the other day my fiance spoke to his fahter (who lives about 1500 miles away). He mentioned something about planning a rehearsal dinner.

My fiance has spoken to his mother about this, and she'd rather not involve him, and he is going to respect her wishes. We were wondering if anyone has a suggestion as to something he can do or host the weekend of the wedding in order to be a part of the wedding.

**Note: We are getting married on a Sunday and the rehearsal dinner will be on a Friday.**

  • How about a get together on Saturday for all of the guests?

Saturday event was immediately what came to my mind.  How about a laid back picnic atmosphere with games in a park?  Or taking the men golfing on Saturday?
