venue visits on thur

We are going to visit our top 3 choices for venues on thur which are:

Fairy tale manor
Coyote ridge golf course
Avanti fountain place

Has anyone had/or having their wedding at any of these 3 places or have any interactions with them like attended weddings or got quotes.  I really like the first 2 the best but the fountain place is gorgeous and even though the food is expensive we will save a lot on rentals.  Any feedback is greatly appreciated.  Hopefully by Friday I will know when and where my wedding is going to be. :)

We went and visited Fairy Tale Manor (its actually like right down the street from us!).  I thought they were a little pricey, but I guess it just depends on your budget.  :-)

My friend had her wedding at Avanti and it was gorgeous.  It's so unique with all the fountains everywhere.  I would say go for that one.

My photographer just did a wedding at Fairy Tale Manor if you want to take a look.

There are a couple of girls getting married at Avanti--I think the only issue with it is that it's a little small.

When I had started planning for my Feb '09 wedding before it was postponed I had the same expereince with this place.  It is really pretty, but too risky.

I'm having mine at Coyote Ridge on September 17.  They have been great to work with - we even dropped in on Sunday a.m. with our officiant to go over a few things and the banquet captain (whose name escapes me) was there setting up for a golf event and was super helpful and able to answer some random questions we had come up.

Avanti was my first choice when I started looking.   We would have had our wedding there, hands down, but I found out that DH's brother's wedding (they broke off their engagement) was planned for there...and that was a touchy subject.

I haven't been to Fairy Tale, but I got a quote and I thought it was ridiculously expensive for what you get.  (That was a over year ago though, maybe it is different now)

Coyote Ridge is nice too.  My sister had her "at home reception" after her Hawaii wedding there.

Coyote Ridge is nice. We looked there.

I know the owners of Fairy Tale Manor, and I've been to a wedding there. It's good if you are having a small wedding. The one we went to was a little crowded I felt like.

I haven't talked to them in a while, but it doesn't surprise me that PP said the prices were a bit high.

Thank you for all the feedback ladies.  I am still going to visit all the locations but some of the information on avanti has me a little worried because in Omaha I sacrificed beauty for service and when I had to start all over I said I wouldnt do it.  I have had pretty good luck with emailing a lady named Amy but we will see.  The golf course has been very responsive and helpful as has fairy tale manor.  The manor is a little expensive but I wouldnt have to buy colored linens or chair sashes which I would have to rent at the other places and they are BYOB which will save me close to 1,600!
Stephanie I saw those pictures this weekend and were better then some of the pics the venue posts on their facebook which goes to show a great photog makes everything look better.
I am very excited for Thur.

nmac- how many people were at the wedding at fairy tale that is one of my big concerns but I am trying to keep the guest list below 120 max and ideally below 100.
  • edited December 2011
How many guests are you expecting?
  • edited December 2011
    somewhere between 100-120 maybe less
  • edited December 2011

You will have to judge for yourself, if you think Fairy Tale Manor is big enough. I believe the wedding I went to was about 100, maybe 75 and I felt like we were a little squished.

  • edited December 2011

thank nmac I will definately have to keep it in mind and look at the different layout options and make sure I have enough room. My location in omaha held 300 so we were going to have PLENTY of room and I do not want to feel squished.

Yeah, you don't want to be falling all over each other. Their outdoor site is pretty though, if you were wanting an outdoor ceremony. Makes pretty pictures.

  • edited December 2011
yeah outdoor ceremony is a necessity so thats why I am looking at the 3 places I am.
  • edited December 2011
I haven't seen the last place, but my vote would be Coyote Ridge if you're wanting an ourdoor. :) It's beautiful.

We actually started planning ours there, and then changed our minds and moved the date up so it wouldn't work. August is too hot for an outdoor wedding in Texas, IMO.

I thought that Avanti only held around 100 but maybe I am mistaken.  Sounds like all 3 are good choices.  Keep us posted!
  • edited December 2011
Avanti is probably too small.   I'm thinking the ideal there was around 75 or less, with 100 max.   Don't quote me on that though.
