Favorite Family wedding traditions

So im sure everybody has a family tradition that you can't wait for.

On my dads side the newlyweds are given a handsewn king sized quilt by my great grandma. When i was little i always loved seeing my mom and dads quilt. This summer one of my second cousins got married and on the gift table was a perfectly folded quilt. Now im super excited because i didnt realize she was still doing it even in her nintys.

Whats your favorite family wedding tradition?

Re: Favorite Family wedding traditions

  • Not necessarily a wedding tradition, but we have this clown that was on some birthday cake from when my dad was little.  It makes an appearance on every birthday cake in my family, every single year.  When we were planning, we joked about using the clown as our cake topper.  On our wedding day, when H and I went behind the cake table to cut the cake, there was the clown sitting on the  corner of one of the tiers.

    That is so cute!

I don't have any wedding traditions in my family. :(

  • My grandpa served in Japan during WWII, and he bought a beautiful diamond and pearl brooch for my grandma and she wore it on their wedding day when he returned.  Both my aunt and my mom wore it for their weddings, and now my sisters and I and my cousin have all worn it for our weddings as well.  I've never seen another couple that loved each other as much as my grandparents did, even after over 50 years of marriage, so I was very grateful to have that reminder on my wedding day.
    Anniversary
