My wedding pet peeve!

Favors!  Favors.  Ugh.  I can't force myself to use a chunk of my budget on a gift someone's gonna throw away or eat in 2 seconds.  I've thought about doing a donation to a charity but I don't want to seem "better than thou".........At first I was planning on doing cds with music for our wedding but I don't feel like making them, and don't think everyone would necessarily like the music my FI and I pick.  Ideas?  Thoughts?  Do we *really* need to do favors?

We bought loose lavendar in bulk online and a bunch of those little sachet bags at Michael's. Then I hand-wrote the names of every guest on little placards, tied one to each bag, and seet them out on the guestbook table as escort cards/favors. I was told by my Mom and MIL that the guests really appreciated the personal touch.Yes, we did spend a little bit on it, but the DIY was really fun- my sisters/BM's helped me make them. We put on old Disney movies, opened a bottle of wine, and set up an assembly line.

My FI's aunt is making the hojarascas and we are making these philadelphia cheese thingys.  You open up the wrap and flatten out the cheese on the whole wrap.  then you spread cut up celery, ham and jalapeño.  roll it up and once its rolled up roll over cut up pecans.  put it on a dish surrounded with ritz.  they come out real good!  its also easy to make and inexpensive.
