B/M dress color decision-leave it up to them?

I want to have 3 girls wear pink and 4 wear purple bridesmiaid dresses. Should I just decide myself or see who likes what color???

Re: B/M dress color decision-leave it up to them?

  • See who likes which color on them. Colors affect skin tones differently for different people. Also, the darker the color, the more you can hide, so some may be more comfortable in a darker color. Be open to having 3 in purple and 4 in pink, or any  other color combination if you give them the choice.

  • I'd ask them first.  BUT If they can't decide it's much better to do a coin toss then to dictate to them who wears what. That way if they don't like the decision the coin makes it's not on your shoulders... it's the coin's fault lol
  • Have them try the dresses on first and see what colors flatter which girls, then decide from there.

  • agrreed with pp. take a trip to the bridal store with the girls you can round up and have them try on a few shades of each. then decide and shower them with compliments..
"oh you just have to wear pink, your skin looks so lovely!"
"my, that shade of purple brings out the green in your eyes!"

you decide and make them think it was their idea!

  • Here's what I would do: have each of them try on both colors and let you know if they have strong feelings one way or another, or if they'd be comfortable in either dress.  Then divvy it up from there.  It doesn't have to be exactly alternating if the numbers don't work out.  Your pictures will look far better with bridesmaids who feel comfortable and beautiful than with unhappy bridesmaids in exactly the right configuration.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • Def allow your BP to choose what best works for them has far has color and style without your perimeters.
  • Instead of alternating between pink and purple, you might also want to consider doing  a range of pinks and purples.  It would be really pretty!  Buttaflai on Etiquette did this and I thought it was absolutely gorgeous.  You should be able to see pics in her bio.
