Okay.  Maybe more people will play if we do this during the daytime.  For those of you who are joining us for the first time, this is a kind of get to know you thread.

Today's questions:
1.  What is the story behind your screen name?

2.  What did teenage you want to be when she grew up?  What did you become?

3. Who did teenage you want to marry (can be someone you knew or someone you only dreamed of knowing)?  Who did you marry or are you marrying?

4. What would you tell teenage you that you know today and can only learn from having lived a little?

Yay for daytimes!  Now I can actually see the responses!

    1. What is the story behind your screen name? Aerin is a character from a couple of my favorite novels, and has been my pseudonym for many years.  A pegadrak is a hybrid pegasus-dragon from when all of my friends were giving each other hybrid animal nicknames.  Apparently I'm so weird that no real animals were suitable.
    2. What did teenage you want to be when she grew up? What did you become? I think Teenage Me was more leaning toward acting/singing professionally.  These days I do IT to pay the bills and writing/crafting stuff on the side.
    3. Who did teenage you want to marry (can be someone you knew or someone you only dreamed of knowing)? Who did you marry or are you marrying? Teenage Me wanted to marry Elijah Wood.  No joke.  I married a fellow skipper with a wicked sense of humor and an awesome set of skills in the kitchen.
    4. What would you tell teenage you that you know today and can only learn from having lived a little? Teenage Me, open up a savings account.  It sucks now, but it'll be important later.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • 1. What is the story behind your screen name?
No crazy story, just my nickname and birthdate (minus the year)

    2. What did teenage you want to be when she grew up? What did you become?
Teenage me wanted to be either a pastry chef.  Grown up me is actually a project management analyst, and after 3 years I am still trying to figure out what that is :)
    3. Who did teenage you want to marry (can be someone you knew or someone you only dreamed of knowing)? Who did you marry or are you marrying?
Teenage me wanted to marry Lance Bass from NSYNC (but apparently I am not his type).  Grown up me actually married my high school sweetheart 9 years after we began dating.
    4. What would you tell teenage you that you know today and can only learn from having lived a little? Teenage Me, high school sucks and the girls are all hormonal b*tches.  Don't take what they say to heart and know that high school is not the end all be all.

  • 1.  What is the story behind your screen name? Mine's not very exciting. I got married in the summer of 2011. I'd like to change it to something better, but at this point, I might as well leave it.

    2.  What did teenage you want to be when she grew up?  What did you become? I wanted to be a teacher; I became a teacher.

    3. Who did teenage you want to marry? Who did you marry? Funny enough, I met H when I was 16 and we worked together, though we didn't start dating until later. Once I met him and got to know him, I wanted to marry him. I definitely thought of him differently than other guys I was interested in.

    4. What would you tell teenage you that you know today and can only learn from having lived a little? Don't try to change for your "friends" or they aren't your friends if they won't accept you for who you are. Make your own decisions about your life or you won't be happy if you make them for other people.

  • I know I usually don't post much, but I wanted to play. :)

    1.  What is the story behind your screen name?
It's taken from the From Autumn to Ashes song "Take Her to the Music Store."
    2.  What did teenage you want to be when she grew up?  What did you become?
I wanted to be a writer and own/operate a no kill animal shelter. Now, I'm bouncing around the health care field and writing on the side.
    3. Who did teenage you want to marry (can be someone you knew or someone you only dreamed of knowing)?  Who did you marry or are you marrying?
I think there was a time I thought I'd marry my ex, since we were together on and off for six years. However, I grew up and realized it was a really unhealthy relationship and then met FI... and the rest is history. :)
    4. What would you tell teenage you that you know today and can only learn from having lived a little?
I would tell me that it's okay if things don't go "according to plan" and that everything will end up working out.

  • 1.  What is the story behind your screen name? Went to Michigan State University, graduated in 2004, and my first tattoo was when I was 18 and got "princess" in kanji (later covered with a dove).

    2.  What did teenage you want to be when she grew up?  Air Force Officer, lawyer
What did you become? Lawyer, but not medically qualified for the military

    3. Who did teenage you want to marry (can be someone you knew or someone you only dreamed of knowing)? I had many loves while a teen while trying to find myself. Couldn't have guessed it'd take another 10 years. Who did you marry or are you marrying? n/a

    4. What would you tell teenage you that you know today and can only learn from having lived a little? Nothing goes according to plan. But, that's the fun of it. Some of it turns out soo much better.

  • 1. What is the story behind your screen name? No story, just short for my actual name. 2. What did teenage you want to be when she grew up? What did you become? I wanted to be a doctor or veterinarian but I am now a policy analyst. 3. Who did teenage you want to marry? Who did you marry or are you marrying? I never in a million years thought I would ever get married but I guess the cliche is true: when you know, you know. I'm engaged to a goofy smart insurance underwriter who shares my obsession with music. 4. What would you tell teenage you that you know today and can only learn from having lived a little? Dont be afraid to be different and just have fun doing what makes you happy.

    1.  What is the story behind your screen name?
I knew a couple that called each other the most ridiculous pet names. It was something sweet + body part...So one day when FI decided to make fun of their habit, he called me Sugar Foot...So I'm Sugarfoote lol.

    2.  What did teenage you want to be when she grew up?
    A Veterinarian
    What did you become?
    An Accountant.

    3. Who did teenage you want to marry (can be someone you knew or someone you only dreamed of knowing)?
    Gerard Butler. He's a hunk :) lol.
Who did you marry or are you marrying?

    4. What would you tell teenage you that you know today and can only learn from having lived a little?

    1.  What is the story behind your screen name? OBX is short for the Outer Banks of NC and I have vacationed there since I was a baby and is where we were married last Sept.  Had I thought about it beforehand, I wouldn't have capitalized it all and probably left out the 2011 part, but too late now.  I love my 3000+ posts dammit!!

    2.  What did teenage you want to be when she grew up?  What did you become? When I was younger, I wanted to be a professional ballerina....I did ballet/pointe/jazz for about 12 years until I hurt my knee pretty badly and had to stop dancing altogether.  Bummer.  I ended up being in Property Mgmt.  Also a bummer, lol.

    3. Who did teenage you want to marry (can be someone you knew or someone you only dreamed of knowing)?  Who did you marry or are you marrying? I wanted to marry Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze) from Dirty Dancing.  Then I decided to whore it up a bit and changed to Johnny Depp.  I married my bestie--never would've that when we first met that we would be married one day, but we wouldn't change it for anything in the world.

    4. What would you tell teenage you that you know today and can only learn from having lived a little?  To save ALL of your money and not waste it on stupid stuff!  Don't get ANY credit cards when you turn 18--they will bite you in your arss later in life.  To never settle for a man that doesn't treat you like a Queen.....never ever ever allow your heart to settle for someone that wouldn't go to the ends of the Earth to fight for your love.

    3. Who did teenage you want to marry (can be someone you knew or someone you only dreamed of knowing)?  Who did you marry or are you marrying? I wanted to marry a friend from Ireland, I think it was his accent!  But I married the man who makes me laugh, treats me like a queen, and puts up with my crazy ideas!  I can't even imagine my life now without him!

    4. What would you tell teenage you that you know today and can only learn from having lived a little?  Cash all the way!  There is no need for credit cards!  They only lead to a life of debt, save up for things you want.

    1.  What is the story behind your screen name?
I'm a preacher's kid (PK) and I'm on the knot (TK!)

    2.  What did teenage you want to be when she grew up?  What did you become?
I wanted to be in the United Nations, then a history teacher.  I'm now an event planner, which is much more up my alley.

    3. Who did teenage you want to marry (can be someone you knew or someone you only dreamed of knowing)?  Who did you marry or are you marrying?
I wanted to marry my high school crush.  No, I never dated him.  I pined from afar, although everyone knew I was nuts about him.  He always had a girlfriend...
I'm marrying B, who I met at a bar in Boston, the one night I went out with the ladies and didn't want to even look at men...

    4. What would you tell teenage you that you know today and can only learn from having lived a little?
Oh, so many things.  Buy a better bra, enjoy your awesome bikini body that you don't have to work for, get the heck over your crush because there are so many other dudes out there.  I could go on forever!

    1. My screenname combines the first initial of my first name plus most of my last name.  25 is my favorite number.  Very unoriginal!

    2. When I was a teenager, I wanted to be a pediatrician.  Once I started having to go to the doctor a ton, I discovered I hated blood lol.  I am now an elementary school teacher.

    3. When I was a teenager, I wanted to marry my high school sweetheart.  Now, I'm marrying MW, whom I met through mutual friends and love more than anything.  He is, however, finding my high school sweetheart his first home:)

    4. I would tell my teenage self to not sweat the small stuff so much because your life is incredible and you have a wonderful family!

  • I'm bored, so I'll play too:

    1.  What is the story behind your screen name?
Steph is part of my real first name, Bean is a childhood nickname, the Wed part is pretty obvious, and the numbers at the end were randomly assigned by TK because "StephBeanWed" without numbers was taken.
    2.  What did teenage you want to be when she grew up?  What did you become?  Attorney.  Attorney.  (Teenage me was very focused.)

    3. Who did teenage you want to marry (can be someone you knew or someone you only dreamed of knowing)?  Who did you marry or are you marrying?  I actually didn't want to marry anyone at all as a teenager - I was convinced I was never getting married.  I'm marrying a person, so I guess teenage me got that wrong.  :-P
    4. What would you tell teenage you that you know today and can only learn from having lived a little?  Probably two (completely unrelated) things - (a) Most things are just not that serious; and (b) Don't stay in relationships with people who take more than they give.

    2.  What did teenage you want to be when she grew up?  What did you become? A writer.  I'm a secretary right now, working on my M.A. in history.

    3. Who did teenage you want to marry (can be someone you knew or someone you only dreamed of knowing)?  Who did you marry or are you marrying? Um.  Pretty much every boyfriend I ever had until I was out of college.  People I didn't know?  Ewan McGregor.  I married a guy I met in a play we were both in.

  • Hmm. I don't know. My dad was a criminal defense lawyer growing up and I guess I just figured I'd have a life similar to his and it isn't. I guess it's just a different time and those were the good ol' days.

I'm a prosecutor right now. I like it. I really do. It's just not the same.

  • I'm feeling nostalgic...  :-)

    1.  What is the story behind your screen name? I picked a word that I thought would describe wedding planning - joy.

    2.  What did teenage you want to be when she grew up?  Work in Mission Control at NASA.  What did you become? A scientist.

    3. Who did teenage you want to marry (can be someone you knew or someone you only dreamed of knowing)?  I dreamed of marrying a baseball player.  Who did you marry or are you marrying? A lawyer.  Hehe.

    4. What would you tell teenage you that you know today and can only learn from having lived a little? Life only gets better as you get older, gain more confidence in yourself, and learn to make great choices.  Hang in there!

  • Bear--I am pretty sure you have to answer your own poll ;)

  • 1.  What is the story behind your screen name?  I just like GoodLuckBear.  The SN I used to have was just my initials.

    2.  What did teenage you want to be when she grew up?  What did you become? As a teen, I wanted to be a reporter for Rolling Stone Magazine.  I ended up as an attorney.

    3. Who did teenage you want to marry (can be someone you knew or someone you only dreamed of knowing)?  Who did you marry or are you marrying?Teenage me had a huge crush on John Stamos and fell in love with George Stephanolpoulos.  None of the local guys matched up to these two.  I think I somehow knew I would marry a Greek man because I married one who for our first Halloween went straight from work wearing a suit and tie, put a lollipop in his mouth asking "Who loves ya baby." (aka Telly Savalos aka Kojak).  He is a computer programming consultant, a fabulous cook and from day one, has treated me like a queen.

    4. What would you tell teenage you that you know today and can only learn from having lived a little? Believe it or not, you will not always be the skittish one who never deviates from what everyone else does and expects.  You'll go from a curled up fetal position for two days at the thought of leaving the neighborhood for law school 250 miles away to not giving a second thought to turning down a fast track partnership at two rival defense firms (after only four years in practice) to join the man you love in New Jersey and start your career over in Philadelphia in a cramped solo practioner's office - and have the time of your professional life doing it because you know what you are capable of and now you've been given that chance to prove it to the legal community here.  No fear.

Who did teenage you want to marry (can be someone you knew or someone you only dreamed of knowing)? Derek Jeter... I'd still marry him lol Who did you marry or are you marrying? A teacher 4. What would you tell teenage you that you know today and can only learn from having lived a little? Don't sweat the small stuff. A big motivating factor in the move here (aside from DH needing to be on the east coast for his career) was that I hated the area of law I practiced and wanted to get back into complex litigation from my clerkship days.  Had I taken the partnership tracks, I would have been stuck doing something I hated for the rest of my career even though I was damn good at it.  Here I can emphasize the trial experience that I did get when I am networking and downplay all of the administrative stuff that I didn't like.

  • 1.  What is the story behind your screen name?
No story here.  Just a SN.
    2.  What did teenage you want to be when she grew up?  What did you become?
I'm one of those, "I've always wanted to be a nurse" type people.  Not really a huge surprise, I'm a registered nurse.
    3. Who did teenage you want to marry (can be someone you knew or someone you only dreamed of knowing)?  Who did you marry or are you marrying?
Tom Cruise.  Top Gun got me.  The volleyball scene.  Yeah.  The 80s.I married someone in the film industry (I don't know why but whenever I say that it makes me think of porn), not an actor.
    4. What would you tell teenage you that you know today and can only learn from having lived a little?Learn to think before you speak.  It's ok not to talk all the time.  Sit back and observe first.
